Why did IMS class lawsuit exclude 06-08 MY cars?

I disagree. The forum is supposed to be a place where folks openly discuss any issues or concerns. If you don't like it, just don't reply. A thread should be closed by admin only if not appropriate, invasive, etc. IMS is an old topic, so if people are bored of it, simply don't reply and the thread would be over. Shouldn't be forced to close.
I will end this by stating that there has been ZERO report of IMS failure in 06-08 cars, PERIOD! There's only a few mos difference between '05 last cars and '06 build and there's no report on larger bearing fail, PERIODDD! The very very few *engine* failures have occurred only on track, and was rod-bolt fail and NOT IMS fail... which can happen to any car. [read Flat-6 response, which has a BENEFIT in engine failure, and would like folks to be scared, as that's their business].
Hence, there is no IMS issue to worry about in 06-08, and continuation on this stupid topic is only paranoia, and may impact value of people's cars on this forum, for absolutely no reason!!!
It's fairly simple:
- Got an '05, upgrade the IMS
- Got an '06-'08 - no issues, drive and enjoy
- Got an 09-12 - no IMS but you will have valve carbon deposits

YOU are super new, and YOU started this whole mess with no consideration for others, and could have simply READ the ZILLION THREADS on this topic. Besides, you seem to absolutely don't listen to anyone here anyway? So, why are you here? Did you read this? This is Forum guideline, if you can't follow, you shouldn't be here!
Why am I here? Well I currently have 4 Porsches in my collection, so this can be a good source for information.
Did I read the guideline? Yes, and if you'll notice it uses the word "may" in making the suggestion of searching previous threads.
It seems that someone has forgotten about Freedom of Speech (It's an American thing) and that this is a 997 forum and IMS and current recommendations is a 997 topic.
You might want to chill out. Maybe I and everyone else on this forum should submit posts and threads to you for review and approval before making them public???

You have 54 posts, not a paid member, and absolutely are a troll, and don't like to learn! You posted on the same topic multiple times, again shows newbie/troll, and when explained that basically IMS is not an issue in 06-08, and can easily be upgraded in 05, you'd still argue!

Ynot: This non issue is causing unnecessary panic and depreciating resale value on our 997
{This ain't the last "new" IMSB thread that we will see, so just go with the flow, I say.}

I have never argued as you say, only asked questions to gain clarification. Please review posts if you question that. In regards to the IMS issue, the June issue of Excellence brings this up (maybe you should direct your hostility towards them) and I would venture to guess that Excellence has more clout and owners reading it than does this particular forum (but I could be wrong). I can understand that you express frustration over the issue, but unlike you (seeing your 5,000+ posts), I don't frequent Rennlist often since my collection is eclectic and not dedicated to Porsche. I'm a member of numerous forums, and frankly check them infrequently unless a question arises.
So to me, your number of posts means nothing and I don't appreciate your inference to me as a troll or newbie:
I live by:
"Wise men listen, cowards are silent, fools talk"

See? That's why I LOVE IMSB panic threads. Keeps the cars more affordable for me. I need some more trash-talking of 997.2, to pull 'em down just a little more before I pop for one.

You must have missed the 10 page exploding PDK paranoia thread - too bad, it was fun (esp if you sold after market warranties!)
We could revive it if your in the market for a PDK.....

Well, the subject has been beat to death more than once. That I agree with but I'm also not sure it serves a good purpose to lead people to think there's zero chance of failure on -06 through -08 cars when that's clearly not the case. I'd be pretty pissed if I passed on the extended warranty based on that sort of assertion and then had to pay 20K out of pocket for a new engine.

Alex has the propensity to pass his personal belief, conjecture, or theory about a topic as FACT, when it is truly not fact based. He tried to do the same thing about DFI engines and oil consumption a few years back.
These types of reckless statements can be very misleading to those who are not familiar with a topic, and are here to learn more about it. In this case, it would give them a false sense of security about the '06 - '08 997.1.
