Good afternoon, all.

I would like to adjust the position of the exhaust (match the position of the tips in the recesses), and am wondering if it's a pretty straight forward job.

Really easy.
Spray adjusting bolt with PB Blaster, let it soak. Then undo it. Then you can rotate and slide tips to suit. Assuming stock exhaust. Not much to adjust to be honest.

Thanks for the quick response, Luxter, but what I'm after is raising the left side to be level with the right side. See what I mean? Heck, I would like to raise both sides to better fit in the recesses (only a matter of a couple centimeters, I figure).

Ok, I see.
There is a little of play on muffler bolts. Between cans and cylinder heads. Kinda hard to get to. That will let you lower / rise the cans.
Also rear carrier will give you a bit of adjustment. The one that holds pipes from header to the cans.

X2 on the above. I found that mine were pretty solid and it took a tap or two with a rubber mallet to loosen them up. Then they moved easily.

Is one lower than the other? If so, check your motor mounts. One of the first signs of motor mounts going bad is an exhaust tip lower on one side. An easy way to check is to get someone to rev up the car and watch to see how the tips move, if one is moving more than the other then it could be a sign the mounts are going. It will also let you know how close you can get the tips to the bumper cover.

I had the PSE installed on my 4S and the tips were to low for my taste. I went back to Porsche and the raised both tips so they matched the stock exhaust tip gap that I had before PSE.

Yep, the left is lower than the right. I'm just now noticing this after getting the car back from having the water pump and thermostat replaced. It wasn't like this prior. I could take it back to the shop and they would take care if it without question, but if it's fairly straight forward then I'll just do it myself.

If it wasn't like that before most probably just happened when they were working on it. Very simple to adjust, won't take you long, unless you are like me and let your OCD take over and keep adjusting them because one tip is 0.5 mm lower than the other

Rear engine carrier. Need to remove it to get to the pump. Needs some TLC. That's likely all you need.

It took me about 3 hours to get them "perfect" after installation of Cargraphic exhaust. OCD ain't a bad thing.

As the first post stated, first try just loosening the bolt on the tips and moving the tips by hand. There is a little up/down and side-to-side play as well as rotation. Get them just loose enough to move, too loose and they'll move around when you try to tighten them back.

The shop may have not gotten them quite straight on the pipe when they put them back on. Takes just about five to ten minutes to see if the easy fix works before doing anything harder.

I end up using my finger thickness as a gauge. My tips are about one index finger knuckle away from the surround in all directions. Easy to compare back and forth between the two sides.
