I drive my 4S year-round through Canadian winters. We don't use much salt in Alberta...instead they favour sand and rocks. I would never drive in winter without a full wrap on the car.

Just sold my wife's o7 MDX. 120,000 kms fully wrapped nose and rear wheel arch done. Still looked fantastic when I sold it, after 8 years and 8 crappy winters.

All my cars are done. As above, you will not get your money back, or a premium, but that protected car will sell, because it looks better. I have 3M'ed my last 11 cars and trucks.

It cost me $1,150 to have clear bras professionally installed on my car, including the entire front end, plus front fenders, hood, lights and windshield frame, door handles, side mirrors, and rocker panels and wheel wells. Money well spent to keep my car fresh for my own enjoyment as well as making it more saleable down the road.

I disagree that I will not recoupe the investment, particularly if it makes it easier to sell my car as a result.

$

At $1150, I totally agree. In my area, a quality install for similar coverage is almost $4,000 though.

I am a first time Porshe owner (997.1 T4S) and this is the first think I am doing.

I had an 08 BMW 550i with 80K miles that looked like it had been sand blasted. I got an estimate for a respray for $3500--ouch.

The Xpel clear bra will be about $2000--sounds like a better investment to me. I pick up my car tomorrow.

$4,000 is way over the top for clear bras installation unless you're wrapping the entinre car, and even that would be on the expensive side, from what I've read from others.

I would certainly shop around for a more reasonable price.

Xpel Ultimate is the way to go but then again I'm somewhat biased

Major Benefits:
The film has self healing properties
Includes a 10 year warranty on the film and installation

Good Luck

I have Xpel Ultimate and love it.
The PO had it put on both bumpers, door, hood, front fenders, lights and mirrors.
I would say it only had a very minor influence on the car's price.

My only suggestion is to make sure you have a very good shop doing the install. I have a few areas that I'm not happy with due to wrinkling and small bubbling.

I would echo what everyone else says here. My experience with some of the 3M products is they yellow from UV exposure. So far the VentureShield I have on 2 cars has not done that. I just removed the 3M stuff after 7 years on a 5-series wagon I use as a daily driver and had VentureShield put on. The car looks brand new now. Not a single mark on the front and this thing is driven 80 miles/day on the freeway during the winter with road salt. Makes it worth every penny.

I am getting my whole car wrapped in 3M. Here is the problem. 6 holes were drilled in the front bumper for license plates. I bought a Skene plate frame to mount the license lower. Does anyone think there is a way to fill and paint the holes (that the 3M material will kind of hide the repair) or does the entire bumper need to be sprayed?

Default 2nd Xpel Ultimate

I just purchased 2011 911S and before I drove it home (from Chicago to Champaign) I had a clear bra installed. I had one installed at the Porsche dealership in 2003 on a Boxster S....cost over $1100. 11 years later went direct to the installer and he charged me $800. He had 3M and Xpel but I liked the idea of the self healing on the Xpel. Looks spectacular
