I suggest you do not take your car to JDP! They are either complete idiots, or flat LIARS.

That really sucks and I feel for your uncle. PPI should have definitely outlined that issue on the PPI form he should have gotten after the inspection.

Get a lawyer and go after JDP for the repair.

Mate bashing JD Porsche (you aren't even the affected party although its your uncle) in various forums doesn't achieve anything.

As a few of us have mentioned in other posts JD Porsche is known for great service and I being a very long distance buyer even had a great PPI experience with them as well.

All dealers and businesses have bad days so please have your uncle reach out to JD Porsche and resolve this instead of bashing the dealer on public forums with second hand information.

I'm using them for a decade and they're terrific! The best place I've ever taken my cars.

Honest, friendly and they treat me like I'm their only customer. I'd never go anywhere else.

A pre inspection is only as good as the inspector and just like home inspections since the inspectors carry no liability for missed items it's mostly a "good feeling" thing to do with less integrity than your own investigation.

Well, it's off-topic but my brain is spinning and I have too much time to think waiting for my daughter to get ready for school. So . . .

If JDP thought this post was libelous where would it file a claim? Libel is a form of defamation and a statutory common law tort. (Correct me if I wrong here, please.) So who's law would apply? New Jersey, the home state of the OP or the legal location of Internet Brands? What's more, proving damages would be difficult and ascertaining compensation possibly even more so. A cease and desist would probably be the better, least costly option. Of course this is assuming that damage to reputation is based on a false or misleading statement (which goes to the difficulty of proving).

And on that waste of band with note, off to school in the GTS (for Porsche content)

And I'd guess this is why many dealers will no longer do a PPI. Figure around $150-$180 an hour labor rate, your $350 PPI gets you about 2 hours of looking at the car. Other than what's obvious, what can you really tell in 2 hours? Sure you can spot major accident damage, or a shoddy repair but that's about it. It's a used car after all.
