Just had IMS failure on 2005 997

Just to keep everybody updated on my car's repair, the dealer recommended new belt, new vapor oil separator (strongly recommended) and new ignition coils (not strongly recommended). Is it common to replace VOS and ignition coils at 34K? I am getting new spark plugs and thermostat paid by PCNA. Looks like my clutch is 50% worn so I have a lot of life in there esp. since my shifting has improved over time

I got my car back today The engine sounded smoother than before. I noticed that oil pressure gauge was close to 5 at 3000rpm but around 2.7 at idle. Don't remember what it was before. Looks like this is normal even though the manual says it should be around 3.5 at 5000. Attaching the receipt of parts replaced. I ended up getting new coils and vos (not shown in these screenshots). Thanks for all your help!

A friend just had the IMS failure in her 2005, 55k miles. She bought it used so Porsche says they will pay 25%. Dealer is quoting her $25k for engine replacement. Does that sound reasonable? Vertex shows $10.9k +core for remanufactured long block. I am not familiar with the 997 but I would think a Porsche long block should be less than $15k with less than $5k for labor for install? I'm going with her to talk to the dealer in a bit. I'll see what they are planning to do for the $25k but would like to hear what some others have been quoted for this issue.

Those oil pressures sound similar to my early 2005 997.1 When the car is hot, I get about 2.5-3 at idle and 5 once I hit around 1500-2000 rpm.
Hope you enjoy the new motor.

hoggel, since mine was paid 100% I didn't have to shop around. But 25K doesn't sound outrageous. Also, when I had my engine failure there were no long blocks available in the US and Germany. I had confirmed that by calling suncoast and another dealer. I was told that Porsche has stopped making long blocks for my model. I would be curious to know if this is still the case.
If the dealer is building the long block, the total cost would be higher.
Sorry for your friend's loss!
