Aos, do not raise rpm too much as if oil goes into cylinders it may hydro lock. Typically if such smoking does not stop in 5 min - shut down motor. Blue smoke is oil, white smoke is coolant, see what is lower level. It may be SOS, gasket, crack in the block if car was on water and left to freeze - bottom line is you get some crap burning in the cylinders together with gas.
If it is aos - with dropped beatbox it is 1.5hr job to replace it. With gearbox up they may charge up to 8hr for this, so, discuss it with the shop.
Excess oil leaked into cylinders usually burns in 20sec and after that it should not smoke. My car makes a puff of smoke after week non driving and done doing it in next 3-4 sec. To prevent it - let car idle as you get into garage for 30 sec or so and then shut it.

I've had my car sit for extended periods (3 - 6 months) multiple times and never came back to any kind of smoke upon startup. Worst I had was a battery issue. Definitely would flatbed it to the shop asap.

Looks like the smoke is coming out of one side only - passenger tail pipes. May be an indicator of scored cylinder liners on one of the banks of cylinders. Get it check out by a p-tech. GL and let us know the outcome.

Yep, except isn't the scored cylinder predominantly the right bank (cylinders 4-6). That smoke was right side, which means left bank because of the crossover. Or am I mistaken here?

Agreed... right bank is typically the weaker side and more suspect to scoring. But in this case it's showing the opposite so I would still have the driver side checked out or bore scoped.

UK Cambridge.
Hi . Do also consider the possibility this could also be a head gasket with water ingress into cylinder. If it was a fuel problem i would have thought there would be smoke on both banks..

Not fuel, probably not aos as it's only one side, maybe scored cyl,,, but car ran fine when parked.
Because it happened during hibernation I'd suspect maybe a stuck oil ring on one or more pistons. Say car was parked with high moisture condition in the engine - crankcase, rings can corrode and freeze up...
If it's coolant then yeah, it's probably a head gasket.
Did it smell sweet like coolant, or sticky like oil ?
Hopefully the cooling system is running the proper coolant and coolant levels?

This may be your first 911?
Normal--for awhile, particularly when a car is allowed to sit for some time. It's a characteristic of a flat 6 engine by Porsche. But don't sit around with it idling--go and drive it. If it doesn't clear up after ten minutes of normal driving, then you can start to dig a bit deeper.

I took it for a quick romp around town and it started to ride rough so I brought it back to my garage... This is my 3rd 911 and have never seen this one (or any other issues) before... I am going to have it picked up from the Porsche Tech on a flatbed and report back the diagnosis

AOS. Did you over-fill the car with oil? It happened to me when I added too much oil to the car. It burnt away.
