Default 997 TT pricing

Ok guys, I am a 911 newbie here and I am looking at lightly used 997TT's - anything 2010 and newer. I am seeing pricing in the $100-130k range which seems high to me for 3yr old cars. For example:

http://danbury.porschedealer.com/cer...71167/info.php

Here is a 2011 offered at $109.9k vs. original MSRP of $154.3k (71%). When I look at lease residuals for 2014 991TT's they are 60% for 2yr and 53% for 3yrs. So there appears to be a disconnect here. 71% ask price vs. 3yr residual at 53% for a 991TT... I feel like all these used 997TT are overpriced. For a 3yr old TT, I fee like 60% of original MSRP would be more reasonable.

They way these are pricing, it implies more depreciation in years 4-6 vs. years 1-3... unless I am missing something.

I realize that with any car purchase you are going to take a depreciation hit, I am just trying to keep it less than $12k per year on a 100k purchase. Where do you guys see the best value in the 911 market if I have 100k budget and want to limit 3yrs worth of depreciation to $36k total?

I feel like I need to fing somebody with a 997 TT lease and figure out a way to buy it at lease buy-out price...

That price looks about right. You may also want to look at a GT3. Here's some KBB prices on the two cars. KBB can be off on these vehicles, but it gives you a baseline on depreciation.

2011 Turbo - 20.000 $107k
2008 Turbo - 40,000 miles - $63k

2011 GT3 - 20.000 $106k
2008 GT3 - 40,000 miles - $70k

You can probably negotiate down... maybe even 10k, so that would bring it closer to 60%

But when the dealer buys the car back... they always list it higher than what the depreciation was, they need to make money.

Porsche warranty is 4 years, CPO is another 3. So most cars will run out of warranty around the 6/7 year mark... hence the further depreciation.

CPO adds two years., not three.

My bad, so that's your answer for why 4-6 year cars depreciate more.

If you want to limit depreciation buy a 2009 TT, that would be my direction, even a 2008.

Since you are worried about depreciation and want to limit cost of ownership to $36k for 3 years, I think the 2011 turbo would be a better deal financially than a new c4s. I've driven only an 07 turbo and a 991c2s and they're both great cars, but I prefer the naturally aspirated engine along with its exhaust note. You should go test drive both and then decide which one you like better. from there find the right car at the right deal.

Agreed are you still worried about depreciation? That New 911 will lose $10K the minute you drive it off the lot.

In that price range get a 997.2 TT-S
