Default Key Rattle solution?

So my 997.2 key is attached to a metal keyring connected to a key fob. It rattles like crazy when I drive.

Has anyone had a successful solution to the problem (other than just not using a fob)? Some kind of nylon strap maybe?

Thanks

I think i posted the solution here somewhere a long long time ago. I too had that rattle from the key ring against the key. My solution was to use heat shrink tubing. After installing the key into the key ring, i wiggled a " just the right size heat shrink tubing " into he key ring. After wiggling the key ring into the tubing heated the tubing and it embraced the key ring tight. No more rattles for me. And it looks clean.

Interesting, I'm going to try that. Thanks!

Neat solution, I like it. My key fob, which is actually a "Remove Before Flight", strap doesn't rattle, but I will remember it for the future.

Great solution Rick! I was so surprised to see this post, having the same issue. My daughter made me a key ring for Christmas, but the rattle was driving me nuts. I too am going to give this a try!!

I have one of the ridiculously expensive Porsche steel cable fobs with a Kroger card between my Porsche key and my house key. Rattle free. But your heat shrink tubing sounds pretty cool and cheaper by comparison.

I must be the village's idiot, I cannot visualize this exactly. Do you have any pictures?

Thanks!

Glad to share the idea. I will try to post a pic but you can search for this using key ring...

Ran into this very issue with Cayenne 955. Took 8 months to identify what it was and in process, pry off various top left corner trim pieces to see if there's anything loose below :/

Solution: an additional small soft silicone cable tie "circle" between metal ring and plastic.

https://www.delock.com/produkt/18828/merkmale.html you can wrap this into a really small circle, so the result is quite clean looking. I used the black cable tie, YMMV

But yes, I like heatshrink tubing idea a lot for even more neatness, might still try that out, too.
