Default IMS retrofit Failure?

Was curious as to how many of you have experienced a failure using the IMS Retrofit and if not, how is it doing? Would really be nice to know:

Car year/model:
Retrofit Manufacturer (LNE or someother):
Bearing Type:
Miles since IMS retrofit:
Failure: Y/N
Installation Details: Indy/Shop etc

Thanks for sharing. I'll share mine:

Car year/model: 05 C2S 997.1
Retrofit Manufacturer: LNE
Bearing Type: Single row serviceable
Miles since IMS Retrofit: 1000
Failure Y/N: N
Installation Details: Porsche dealer

Thanks folks...if this is an inappropriate request, never mind :-)

@Bed997, sorry but I just don't know. An inspection date says 1/12/2005. So I can extrapolate that the car was built in 2004 and had the M96 motor.

sorry splitingcobra, let me get this straight....

1000 miles AFTER the LN ims retrofit-ceramic bearing was installed by the porsche dealer... the ceramic bearing still failed and your engine blew up catastrophically?

this could be made as a poll to compliment the other thread, with the votiing requirements to include the poster to fill in the retrofit-specific info that splittingcobra stated.

My neighbor did the L/N retro fit a year ago and has thousands of track miles on it with no issues.

Based on the information he provided about his own retrofitted car, it has NOT had a problem after 1000 miles of use.

Sorry if I was not clear, my retrofit is running well but I have had only 1000 miles on it. The LNE website mentions a few failures of their bearings but also say a few of them might be due to incorrect installations. Wanted to see success rate of retrofit bearings. Thanks for the assistance

Sorry to be the engine accuracy cop, but since you have a Carrera S, your engine is the M97. M96s were for base cars. M96 and M97 engines were produced concurrently throughout the 997.1's manufacture.

Is it really an upgrade or just an alternate aftermarket design with a limited track record?

Pfaff does it.. both Mike McCarthy (shop manager) and my previous service tech have confirmed they've done them.

My thoughts exactly. And how many guys have performed the swap with a perfectly good IMS....
