How about a slightly different approach. Instead of HP gains why don't you consider suspension/handling mods. I mean, being able to take the twisties even faster can be just as rewarding as HP gains. (There is just so much conflicting info on adding HP to a C2S that it might cost a lot of money for not much return.)

It is totally possible, between tuning, an intake, high flow cats, and headers to add at least 10% more power to a 997S, which is a substantial increase. If you're looking to add hundred(s) of horsepower, you're best off buying a different car like a Turbo or GT3, but you can make a 997S a lot faster for $6-7k. OP, what year is the car you're getting?

Not as long as you use a quality CAT replacement. Fabspeed uses HJS 200 cell tri-metallic cats. We have had no issues with CEL that was caused by our Sportcat X-pipe, more often then not the cases we see are a result of previous conditions.

Not at all with a good high flow cat and especially a tune. If the cat (the HJS cats like what Fabspeed use are all anyone should ever use on any car when changing out the stock cars) is doing its job, there should be no issues with cat efficiency faults or passing state sniffer tests. In addition, for some ECUs we can manipulate the secondary sensor test window to allow them to set OBD readiness with weak cats or missing cats.

As long as you don't live in California (or something similar) that requires EO numbers on the physical parts to pass emissions, it is not difficult to have one of these cars function exactly as it is supposed to regarding emissions as long as you use quality components and software.

+1... I have the FVD exhaust system (cats, cans, headers), GT3 TB, IPD Comp Plenum, FVD ECU remap, and the EVOM airbox. No CEL's and I pass emissions in TX w/o having to remap the ECU back to stock.

Interesting. No CEL with stock tune ? I might have to look into this. Not interested in changing the ECU tune and voiding my warranty.

FWIW, I've been under CPO for 3yrs now. The dealer cannot tell that my ECU has been remapped... I've asked my SA(a friend and former p-tech) to specifically look for the remap with the dealer's PIWIS. SA: "it looks stock. Are you sure it's been remapped?" Well... I'm certain as there is a distinctive performance difference after the remap. IMHO not having to remap back to stock for warranty service nor emissions was one of selling points when I decided to go with the FVD'd ECU software when I did the majority of my intake and exhaust mods. As an FYI, FVD also tunes for Porsche Motorsport.

Not sure if this is the case with Porsche, but it happens with other makes, when a dealer does a flash update on the vehicle and overwrites the upgraded flash. I know people that have had this happen to them and the dealer never even told them they had done it.

If raw power is what you are after you bought the wrong car IMO

Definitely something to look out for... In my case, I'm fortunate in that the car behaves very differently when it has a stock tune vs. the FVD tune.

I'm guessing you like the FVD tune?

Roger that... So far the tune plus exhaust system has done everything FVD said it would and the bonus as I've mentioned... I haven't experienced any issues with warranty work at the p-dealer nor issues passing TX emissions testing after years of ownership. FVD's tech support and customer service has been top notch in supporting me with all my DIY installs. So far they've stood behind their products and have made modding my p-car that much easier. FWIW, I run from vendors that finger point. On the flip side I tend to vote with my money and go back to the same vendor if they treat me like a valued customer.
