Only 997.2 wX51 is the GTS (2011-2012). All GTSs are widebody (2wd or awd). As some have said, the GTS is the car between the GT3 and the 911S.

Not true. The X51 power kit was available as an option on the non-GTS cars

My guess is you won't find many given it was a ~$16,000 option. Standard on the GTS.

Does any body here claim to have one (X51 997.2)? My dealer says they don't exist! I know the 997.1 X51 is common, I had one. It was $17900 more! 9A1 engine in 2009 was new and Porsche NA wasn't offering anything "radical" until GTS came out as a 2011. Like to hear about one if anyone has one!

Thanks, yea I'm still looking. I've seen a couple of low mileage 2011 CPO cars in the mid 80's and that looks like where I'd end up. I'm still a bit torn whether CPO and low mileage are worth the money. Looks like I can get into the 70's if I'm willing to forego CPO and accept mileage into the 20-30K range. I've only seen one car out there with 5 lug wheels and it has an aero kit, which is a little too ostentatious for me as a daily driver.

I appreciate your point about a C4. I still might consider that. I'm not sure that I agree there's any such thing as "extra power" though

You should definitely be able to get into the high 70's for a CPO with 25K-30K miles (mid-70's for non-CPO), which in my book is still low mileage. If it is going to be a DD, and not a garage queen, the difference between 15K and 30K miles car is not really that significant when you consider the huge premium you have to pay for lower miles. This is especially true with the CPO warranty.

When I was shopping for my GTS, I was amazed by how much of a discount there was for accepting a fantastic CPO car with moderate mileage. It just doesn't make logical economic sense (to me), unless you really think that the GTS is going to be a collectible, and plan on placing it in storage. Value is in the mind of the beholder, I guess.

You MUST narrow down search, from what you said C4 is the car to get, forget about GTS, and super low miles. CPO might be worth $3-4K max, if the same car costs 10K more CPO, then not worth it.

I totally agree about the CPO. it costs them in the neighborhood to $2000 to $3000 to certify the car, depending on if it needs tires & brakes. the tires & brakes both must be 70 percent or more remaining to certify it under Porsche standards. add in the two additional years of warranty and we are talking maybe $4000 worth of value. if you are looking at 2011s you may be able to find a late year model with almost two years of warranty left. that is exactly what I did earlier this winter. I discovered that 2011 is the sweet spot in terms of value right now. even if un certified you get a year plus of warranty left. and you get a significant discount for being right before the 991s came out while still feeling like almost like a new car inside.

A good deal also depends on how flexible you are with options and color. I was pretty flexible with my options this being my first one so I focused entirely on value. I ended up getting a late year 2011 dark brown c4 cabrio pdk two tone black and beige interior. initially I thought... really? A brown car? And auto? 4wd was really just a bonus. all the cars I had been trying before that were rwd manual and either black, silver, dark blue, grey. but honestly once I tried PDK it was pretty amazing especially for a daily driver. and the brown color has really grown on me, I like how it will always be so unique on the road in a sea of black/grey/etc cars. I guess my point is if you keep an open mind you can get a really good deal and you may end up being happy with the car once you give it a shot. and if you really feel you need a different car after a few months, if you get a good enough deal you can trade it back in for hardly anything lost.

for me to get this CPO ~2 year old car for $69K with only 11k miles on it, new tires, original sticker of $112k and certified until November 2017, I thought...man this is a really good deal... so decided worth giving it a shot. in fact I assessed that the trade in value was ~67 k at the time, so even if I changed my mind I wouldn't be taking a huge loss if I bought another one at the end of the year. just something to think about as an option, bc if you find a dealer really wanting to turnover some inventory you may be able to get it for similar or even slightly less then what it cost them.

Check out this black C4S that just listed. this is the same place that I got mine. their MO is price low with fast turnover, so you can get good prices there. shipping was $950 from Texas to New Jersey. this looks like a similar discount off MSRP that I got. This is a 2010 but has extremely low miles, and certified - so two years of warranty. the black and beige interior is very nice if you're open to something a little different. especially with the basalt black metallic exterior it is actually quite striking.

Thanks for that link; I appreciate it. It would be great for the sunny spring days, but summers in Maryland are often obnoxiously hot and I plan to drive it all winter, so a cabrio is not for me. I'll keep my eye on their inventory.

I drove a 2007 Turbo and what a load of fun that car is! I never did find a Targa with the color/options that I wanted. And then I drove a 2013 991 C2 with 7500 miles on it. Maybe it was because I drove it right after the Turbo, but for the same money as the 997.1 Turbo or 997.2 GTS, I could get a better commuter vehicle overall in the 991 and, honestly, I think the 991's look better. So, after many months of pursuit of just the right 997, I'm now the happy owner of a pristine 991--engine broken in and clear bra already installed. Go figure!

Congratulations! Need pics though! Let's see your new ride. Or, did you post it in the 991 forum?

I'm on it. Just brought it home yesterday and I need some daylight Anthracite Brown Metallic. Much better looking in person than the pictures I had seen.

Okay, here she is. 7000 mile 2013 991 C2 Anthracite Brown Metallic with Sand Beige interior. It's fairly stock. Multifunction wheel, PDK, comfort package, and really basic 1/2 hood, fenders, and mirrors clear bra. For reference, I paid $78K. As a commuter, so far, it's perfect. Fast, comfortable, forgiving, and it controls my iPhone with the multifunction display on the gauge cluster
