That's right, I forgot about that!! Doesn't the conversion run ~$1,500 or so - or is less? If I tracked more or my dislike of CL's rose to this level (plus the cost of having to buy new rims) I'd have it done in a heartbeat!

The Powerkit (x51) and all the extras it brings (3rd radiator, higher engine speed, etc) in the GTS is really nice if you are tracking. The CL's are much more work for tracking since they have a very specific on-off and maintenance procedure the must be followed, but it is doable with experience and help from other CL track buddies.

If you have the luxury to test drive and compare, then you may get your answer that way. I really like the Powerkit for the track so I'd lean toward the GTS ...

+1 for GTS - if the budget is $90k and those are the two choices you should be able to get any GTS coupe you want. Good luck and post pics when you find it.

When I looked I was more concerned with Condition, Color preference, and the Options I wanted over C2S, C4S, GTS. Out of the 3 I would prefer a GTS, but not if it means I am giving up Color or Condition. I ended up with a 3000 mile off lease C2S, could not be happier.

I just read your requirement list and thought I'd add that I've yet to see any GTS cars with PCCB's.

It's about $4500 all in for the conversion. Plus a new set of wheels.

Thanks, everyone.

Hatzenbach and Tcc1999, I'll keep the CL hassles in mind and hope to find a 5-lug.

mdrums and Tcc1999, I'm glad to hear that the ride isn't harsh-feeling. Hopefully I can drive both and decide but you guys with time in the cars have a better perspective than I will after one test drive.

Well, shame on me. That's a h3ll of a price to pay for getting sucked into something that looks cool but lacks total practicality. Lesson Learned!

Well, honestly based on what you described on your first post, I think a C4S would be the best bet for you... and GTS maybe extra money for nothing.

You do seem to want a nice sports car, with wider body, for longer commutes in DC, with good comfort (so no to sports PASM), and lower milage. C4S would be great for DC, in rain or slippier conditions, has the wide body you want, the extra weight of it you will NOT notice, and can be found probably at a better deal than GTS.

GTS would be best if you really needed that extra HP, love the CL wheels, and loved Alcantara... otherwise, C2S/C4S might offer more bang for the buck, SPECIALLY if you want to spend $$$ for modifying the wheels (and ruining the value of the GTS CL wheels).

One last thing, you do NOT want a car that hasn't at all been driven, so 10K miles on a 2010 car may not be best... you want some car that was driven continuously but not for that long.

Yes correct!

The parts (hubs, bearings etc) are around $1800 but the labor is what costs more. I looked at doing this with my GTS because I track the car and wheels changes, brake flushes are a PITA and extra set of street wheels and track wheels where $6k and the hubs and labor where close to $3500ish. It would have cost me around $11k for the conversion.

My wife talked me into the Center Locks. I have my GTS ordered with 5 lugs and changed it. HUGE mistake!

There is a 5 lug GTS at Danbury Porsche. No affiliation with them. It is a manual trans car but they are out there if you are patient with your search.
