Default Will my battery die after 3.5 weeks?

Travels plans got extended which resulted in my car being parked for 3.5 weeks. Wanted to ask to plan ahead. Do you think my car will need a jump or new battery?

Long story, but the answer will determine what return tickets to book.

Thanks!

I do not think so as long as you do not have an old battery that is close to its lifecycle. It is also going to depend on if the car has been sitting out in the cold, etc.
I've had to travel and mine sat at the airport indoor parking for 3 weeks and had no problem.

Make sure your car is locked so it goes into power save mode. It will keep certain electrical components active when unlocked and draw down on the battery faster.

more info might help......age of batt, parking weather.i have found no difference between locked and unlocked on batt drain. 3 and a half weeks is pushing it for anything less than a newish batt. imho

Where is the car parked?
If at home plug it in.
Either way, better safe than sorry.

I just disconnect the battery if I'll be gone for 2 weeks or longer. Mine cranks as strong as ever after as much as a month. Put a towel over the frunk locking mechanism though since you have to jump the fuse panel to get the frunk open if you lock it without battery power.

How does getting a new battery vs. needing a jump start impact your return schedule? I'm guess you're looking to get back earlier in the business day so you can go get an new battery vs. just needing a jump.

As the others have stated, not enough info to give the right advice.

If outside at airport for example, pickup a solar panel/cigarette plug for about $35. Leave panel on your dash. Works great. I use a few of those.

Plug it in if possible, it's not worth the hassle - accessing the battery when it's dead is a major oversight on the design of these cars since the hood won't open without jumping it from the switchbox.

My '12 997.2S would die with its last new battery. (It's second). Two dealer service shops have told me no problem with car, just keep it on a charger.
Good luck.

The battery on my -06 C4S died in two weeks during a trip of mine. Absolutely no indications of a weak battery prior. These cars are notorious for nibbling on the battery when parked so as I said earlier, I just go through the terrible one minute ordeal of disconnecting the battery when traveling. Unlike battery tenders which are known to fail at times, the disconnect route never failed me.

HELP - On a similar note I haven't been able to take my (new to me) 997.2 Targa out in close to 2 weeks and will be gone for another 2 weeks. I have a brand new battery.

Due to title issues I can't mine out on the road. Is there any benefit to taking it out on the driveway and running higher than idle for a while to charge up the battery or will it take more juice out by starting it than just disconnecting starter right now?

I dont have a place to plug a tender in. (public garage)

To disconnect the battery, do you just lift the red side cable, or the black side, or both?

More info: ( sry having hard time finding wifi on this trip)

- 2012 GTS 10k miles
- temp 30 - 50 Fahrenheit
- 25 days parked in airport garage
- locked

I need to know probability because I have another trip to make. So will book return flight early if the consensus is that the car won't start. Otherwise I'd prefer not to return early because there is a significant opportunity cost

But really 3.5 weeks id assume shouldn't be a problem in this modern era. My 2011 BMW lasted 2.5 months!! Anyway hope additional info helps

Thanks y'all
