Default Looking for Reassurance

For Christmas, my wife bought me a set of the real deal Fuchsfelge 19" wheels for my 2009 997S. (I've got a great wife!) According to Fuchs, the tire that goes with the rear wheels is a 305 30ZR 19. I am currently running Pirelli P-Zero tires on Carrera Classic wheels. The rears are 295 30ZR 19.

I've read a lot of great things here about Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, so decided to go with these for the new Fuchs wheels. I ordered the 305 30ZR 19 for the rear wheels from Tire Rack. They arrived today. They look HUGE. The appear to be 1/2" - 3/4" or so wider than the Pirelli 295s, which already seem to fill the wheel well.

I've read some posts here from others that are running the Michelin Pilot Super Sport 305s without problems. I'm looking for reassurance that I ordered the correct size and that these tires aren't going to protrude from the wheel well or rub.

Thanks in advance for calming my fears.

You can use spacers if needed but you'll have no issues installing the tires.

Thanks, all, for the reassurances. I can't wait to get them mounted. Hopefully, this weekend.

I had 305 Pirelli PZero Rossos.
Just put on the 305 Michelin Super Sports before storage.
Only put on abot 20 km to home but boy are they quieter.
They fit just fine.

I've got 305s on mine with 5mm spacers on the Sport Classics. No problems!

Are spacers required for 305s to fit properly? If so, are something that most tire/wheel shops have handy?

Thanks!

You do not need spacers, people use them to get the wheel/tire more flush with the fender. I would install them and see what they look like before I bought spacers.

I believe that the Fuchs rears are 11 inches wide--similar to most of the 997 wheels back there. Routinely, Porsche only puts the 305 tire on their 11.5 and 12 inch (Carrera Sports, GT3) wheels but many have been 'upping' their tires to 305 without any issues.

I got the 305s and the Fuchs wheels installed today. Thanks, all, for the reassurances that the larger tires would fit. They look great! Here are a couple of quick phone pix after my car had its bath:

Love the classic Fuchs look. Takes me back to the days my Porsche ownership dream started when I was a teenager. :-)
