Default Homelink Hit or Miss

Anyone else out there having hit or miss performance with their Homelink? I have a 997.2 and to not put to fine a point on it I think the system is crap. My wife's Honda works every time in comparison.

Mine worked every time at the previous house, which we sold in June of 2013, and has worked for the last three months at the new house.

At the new house, which has a different brand of garage door openers than at the previous house, I did notice that I have to press and hold the button for about 1 second.

Mine has not worked, even after I programmed it to my door opener and the lights on the car flashed.

Any secret sauce for setting it up other than following the directions in the owners manual?

Actually there is. The directions in the manual don't always work so there are additional steps to take. Trying to find the threads on the subject but no luck yet. I used the sauce and it works without exception.

Mine, like some other functions in the car, has a mind of its own. Most days it works just fine. Every once in awhile it needs a long push and/or for me to have the nose of the car almost up against the garage door.

We have two other cars with Homelink and they work every time almost from the street.

Sounds like our cars have a kindred spirt. :-)

Possibly. Either that or they were both built on a Friday afternoon during Oktoberfest.

I had a hell of a time getting mine programmed, but once I got, it seems to work reliably. Unless the car is already in the garage, and then it doesn't work at all. I have three other remotes that work just fine inside the garage though.

X2! We have a 3 car garage, the S sits in the 3rd car bay. I have to have the nose literally right up on that door to open it. The larger two car door it will open once you're within 20' of the door. Acadia, F150 both will open it a couple of houses away!

Is your garage door opener new/newish? (2011/2012 or newer?) If you have a Liftmaster, Chamberlain, perhaps Raynor and some other brands owned by the Chamberlain group, they went to a new rolling code system. You'll need a Homelink Repeater.

The Homelink in a 991 probably works with the new garage door openers however I would be curious to know if a 2011/2012 997 Homelink works.
