Problems in the snow

Hi Guys,
I feel like my 997.2 C4S is the only one which drives terrible in the snow.
My set up:
H&R Springs
Fresh Alignment
Front Tires: SottoZero 240s 235/40/18 ~50% DOT Stamp 20/07
Rear Tires: Michelin PA2 265/40/18 ~90% DOT Stamp 42/12
In any amount of snow the rear wants to come out, even straight line acceleration in let's say 1/4 inch of snow, am I crazy? I'm comparing to my SLK 55 which felt the same but was RWD ....
To give a better account, I feel like under acceleration in the snow the rear wants to slide out even in a straight line, can the older compound fronts be the issue? I also went from 295 rears to 265 rears last year after the dealer recommended a narrower rear tire but still kept the 11" rear wheels ...
Thanks in advance
Dan

Well your fronts are almost 7 years old. They are toast.
Your front tires don't match your rears. Never good on a performance car. Compounded by snow and cold.
Why do you have tires on front from 2007? They are older than your car.
What are PA2 tires? Do you mean PS2's?? You realize these are not snow/winter tires. Pretty worthless below 40 degrees.

This setup spells trouble: first you have mis-matched tires, second as the other poster said your fronts are too old. Want to save money and have great winter setup, get yourself a set of Blizzaks LM60. You'll be amazed.

PA2 are Michelin's high performance snow tire. There's not a whole lot of grip available in snow no matter how good your snow tires are, though. I suspect you might be expecting more from your C4S than you got from past econoboxes, but... sadly... all are grip limited by the snow itself so you're apt to get about as much performance in these conditions from a C4S as you would a prius. You just need to be careful and drive with a ginger foot.
The ScottZero II (replaced the 240?) and PA2 have very similar ratings on tirerack, both better than the Blizzaks; I would expect them to be fairly balanced in most conditions. Throttle oversteer in poor grip conditions is not necessarily the tire's fault, though.

and you have to drive like you would any car in snow / ice conditions, the 4-wheel drive will only go so far in terms of managing the power to the front & rear wheels but if you gun it and expect the tires (even winters) to hold then you're in for a rude awakening.
Drive it like you paid for it in the winter, drive it like you stole it in the summer

Plus it is highly likely that your front drive clutch will be disengaged, dedicate front traction to steering authority, the INSTANT the rear threatens to come about.
Feather the throttle right up to the cusp of "breakaway", but NOT beyond.

Thanks for the input guys, to clear up how it got to this set up:
When I picked up the car, I had the full set (front and rear) of the Sotto Zero IIs however last year I had a puncture in the right rear and in the dead of winter with stock levels being low my tire guy was only able to source the PA2s for the rears however no fronts were in stock. I drove that way for the remainder of the winter and now after the first 2 snow falls here have ordered new front PA2s to match the rears.
Hopefully this will make the drive better,
Thanks for the feedback
