One annoying thing about our p-cars are the rusty Porsche lug bolts... really Porsche? Some have resorted to paint their rusty lugs and I had even considered cerakoting a set. Previously I kept two sets of lug bolts... cleaning one set while the other rusted/aged on the car over a few months. That was OK for the past 3 years but I couldn't resist when one of our forum members, JHBrennan, offered these Poggipolini Ti bolts up FS. Thanks JH! I know... kind of an impulse buy but I wonder if this is how those with PCCB's feel about their brakes... no brake dust.

1. A little weight savings...
The OEM bolts weigh 93.3 grams each vs. the Poggi's at 56.6 grams. Per wheel that translates to a savings of 0.1835 Kilograms or 0.4 lbs per corner for a total of 1.6 lbs from all four wheels. FWIW, my Champion RS129's shaved a few pounds off each corner as well compared to my Carrera Classics. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...n-rs-129s.html So only a few pounds saved per corner but any weight shaved off from rotating mass and unsprung weight is a plus.

2. Aesthetic value... no more rust. I'm starting to get why some pay the $$ for PCCB's. Had lunch with my p-tech today and we kept thinking "p-car jewelry" as we looked at the Ti bolts vs. the OEM bolts. The Ti's are light and feel cool to the touch. You'd think we were gazing at some mysterious alloy from space. BTW, my p-tech(a good friend) always notices and points out the rusty bolts on my Champions... well no more of that.

Grip: there's always something to consider/improve.
The Poggi's come as a set of 20 bolts with a large torx socket to install/remove them. I suppose the large torx socket provides some form of security but I would have preferred a special keyed socket(like the Porsche security key). Perhaps most thieves don't carry a large torx socket set with them.

Can't wait to swap my rusted p-car lugs out tomorrow.

Holy crap those are expensive! I installed spacers, which required the longer lug bolts. I bet having those in the longer bolt style are ridiculously expensive. I guess I will have to compensate for the added weight by improving my driving skills! They do look cool though!

I came so close to pulling the trigger on these. I love the look of the torx socket.

My daily wheels are black though. And I have a set of durable (read: non-OEM) black bolts.

That coupled with the fact that I dropped a fair amount of coin for a set of TiKore bolts that have been sitting in my toolbox for well over a year.

Anyway... they're dead sexy. Let see some installed pics!

$500 for lug bolts (much less $1200+) is one of the most asinine things I've ever seen.

There is simply no performance justification for this cost...you just bought some very expensive and generally useless auto jewelry.

On FCHAT there was a spirited discussion regarding the performance gains made possible by reducing the unsprung weight by switching to Ti lug bolts. From my background as a Mechanical Engineer with a large portion of my career in R&D, I was able to add the following thought.

Take the cost of the bolts, in this case $1500, in a Ferrari much more as the Ferrari tax is higher. Now insert 1500 $1 bills INTO your wallet. Fold your wallet and place in your rear pants pocket. Now drive your car nonstop thru just one tank of gas. While refilling your tank, remove the $1500 to simulate the purchase of the bolts. Now drive just 20 minutes and you will experience the very noticeable gain in performance and ride comfort afforded by the simulated use of the bolts.

On the other hand, if you like them, just by them and enjoy them. Life's a journey, enjoy the ride.

I finally had some time between calls today so installed the Ti bolts. Please excuse how dirty the car is... it had rained a bit this week. Here are a few pics... I included some with both the old rusted bolts and the new Ti's for comparison. Couldn't be happier with the final result. I have to agree about how the torx bolts look... they really add/complete the Champions in a way I had not anticipate. Now at $1,500 retail... well that's much too rich for my mortal blood. But thanks to RL I scored a set of these for less than what some have paid for an oil change at certain p-dealers. Thanks again JH... we'll miss you on the forum.
