Default Battery/Generator warning light on

along with a slight rise in water and oil temp, some smoke, some coolant loss and as I pulled into a gas station, the power steering seemed to be giving up too. All this within a 2-3 minute span. On a flatbed to the dealer as I speak. Broken belt?

I have done nothing to this car in 32,000 miles except change tires and oil. Just in the past 30 days I've replaced the driver's side door handle, the frunk release button in the door sill and now this. Additionally, the PCM has been acting up and is getting worse.

What year? Serpentine belt should be replaced at 6 years or 50,000 miles IIRC. Maybe your water pump failed and took the belt with it.

Great guess. Exactly what happened. Got the car back today. Total repair cost was 1,700.00, all covered by my Toyota backed extended warranty. No deductible and they also paid for my rental up to $50/day. This happened Friday night so I couldn't get a loaner from Suncoast.

For those shopping for extended warranties, the "Continuous Customer Care" policy (CCC) issued by Toyota Financials has been very painless so far. I've ran up close to $2,000 in the past two months (about 70% of what I paid for it) and there's been no discussions about coverage. Best I can tell it's identical to Fidelity's Platinum plan except I have zero deductible instead of $100 with Fidelity and the policy itself was $1,000 less than Fidelity. Recommended by my service advisor who said they're easier to work with than Fidelity.

I have no current or previous affiliation with Toyota Financials other than being a customer. Just pointing out that there are good options to Fidelity which clearly is the default choice around here.

Thank for coming back and sharing the outcome. Sounds like your extended warranty was well worth it!
