Congratulations on your new motor. Now it's about working on patience, because not having our cars during the holiday season is really tough! Wanting to go for a road trip, and car is not here! Mine is getting preventative IMS bearing replacement.
Have a great New Year!

Glad things worked out. I can't imagine the stress that situation brought. Thanks PCNA for stepping up.

I bought my 997s when my twin girls were 3 years old. Now they're 7 and we still love it as a family car. We did a road trip this summer and it was great. Yes, it's snug. But the intimacy at this young age is so precious. They won't fit back there for more that a few years but I plan on enjoying many miles before that happens. I'm about to hit 63k in mine and it's running just as tight and smooth as the day I brought it home. Except for that one rattle coming from then shift boot area ;-)

I looked into that since the engine costs are the same, but PCNA will only swap in the identical engine. It would have been a nice bump from the 3.6.

I have a Diono Radian in the back for the 3 year old, but the little guy needs to wait another year before he is forward facing. Who says a 911 isn't a family car?

That was my back-up plan if things weren't palatable through Porsche. The wait for the reconstruction is up to a year at this point, when is your build to be complete? Which stage are you going with?

Thanks for sharing the positive news! Also thanks for the pictures. Looks like you had a great porsche turnout for the NY Porsche fun run over Thanksgiving weekend. The pics of your sons are priceless....look at there smiles.
I'm glad everything worked out for you. Look at it this way you now have a brand new engine for 2014.... It will be a great year!

I think we need to do a shout out to Chris Dodin at Jack Daniels Porsche and to PCNA for doing the right thing

Happy New Year to everybody...

this thread and this story will make Chris at Jack Daniels my first call when I need service/repairs on my first Porsche that I'm currently in the market for.

MuffinMan, what fantastic news!! You are one lucky guy in so many ways (just look at those family pics, beautiful!).

As another long term Porsche owner and fan, it is great to see how this worked out. Kudos to PCNA, Jack Daniels, and all the good people who did the right thing.

It sure was a Merry Christmas, and it. Looks like 2014 will be starting on a very Happy note.

Congrats again, and have lots of great fun and memories with your 997, family, and fellow Pcar friends.

Awesome story, glad it all worked out in the end.

Did they say how long it will take to get the repairs done?

The engine was ordered on Tuesday, and they are shooting for completion by the end of the year. One way or the other, it shouldn't be long!
