Well its a balmy 30-35 deg C (86-85 deg F) here in Brisbane, Australia - warming up for a typically very hot Australian Christmas with around 60-90% humidity and almost daily showers.

So yeah...no snow here...maybe I should take the Porsche up to Fraser Island...sand is just like snow right?

Unfortunately...sand does not melt away like snow

Had a nice road covered snow drive to work this morning. Kind of fun.

Then it really started dumping while at work and came out to this

Roads were terrible. The kind where the Governer calls it a disaster

But she managed just fine and now needs to defrost in the garage

Love all these pics of snow fun! I just got my first 911 recently - 2009 997.2 C2S - and live in the Denver area. Debating if I should just drive her all year round. Is a good set of snow tires all she needs? Any recommendations on what snow tires are best? Do you drop down to 18s plus narrower tires in the rear - 265s? - to improve traction with only rear wheel drive? Thanks!

I drove 2 full winters with my previous C2 (we get a good amount of snow in Western NY). I used the factory recommended 18" wheels 235 front 265 rear on the Pirelli Sottozero N spec winter tire. Great tire and setup. I felt the car was as good as my previous Jetta with Michelin X-ice and much better than a fwd car with all season tires. Rear drive plus rear engine is a great combination for winter traction. Never had a problem.

My current car also rwd has the 19" sottozeros with 295's on the rear. It handles well too. Yesterday while going up a hill in heavy snow the pickup truck in front of me was fishtailing all over while my car just hooked up and went. These cars are great in the snow it all comes down to having proper tires and enough ground clearance for the conditions. If your hwy dept is anything like mine it is pretty rare to have more than 3-4 inches of snow on the ground.

My car would get destroyed where I live.

These are the only two cars I own that are on the road right now while my precious sleeps in the garage.

18s with the narrower ones that you suggested would work best... just make sure he wheels clear your brakes... as i not sure ive seen any 997.2 owners running 18s for snows.

Michelin x-ice seem to be amongst the top of the line snow tires, i have them on both my daily drivers.

btw. beautiful beautiful 911 in your avatar. congrats.
