Leaving the Toronto Motorcycle show last night, car was parked for a few hours in an open parking lot. Temperature was around 0 centigrade, let the engine warm up, had to make a turn from a 2-lane left turn at the lights. Lights change, put it into 1st, keeping the RPMs low as the oil temp was not up to optimal yet, kick off from the lights, make a left doing 20kmph and the backend swings right out and then right back in :P What surprised me was how quickly the backend snuck back into place after swinging out and the 10 car distance the people behind me kept all the way down that street. FUN!

Since we're letting in 996s, I figured I might as well add a real 911...

Hey I was there too with my 997! We are putting on the Southern Georgian Bay Bike Week 2014 www.sgbbikeweek.ca

Perhaps I said hello at our stand in Hall 1 without having met you!

Toptier, Great to see another GT3 winter driver! We may not have the same clearance as the Carrera's as a consolation we do have the benefit of being able to fully defeat the traction control :-)

I thought about getting a GT3 as a DD but worried about how it would hold up in winter due to the lack of undercoating. Have you GT3 winter drivers had any issues?

I did a search on this here and on other forums before buying mine. It seems that relatively few people DD a GT3 as their only car even in warmer climates let alone ones that get any substantial snow. I'm taking the extra step of adding my own protection using LPS -3 (waxy spray on corrosion inhibitor) i thoroughly cleaned wheel wells & suspension with wheels off and applied a good coating. I'm also washing weekly. I plan to reapply coating as needed before every winter and assess every spring. If I notice an issue in the spring I'll address it right away. I wish I could tell you now how this works out in the long run but this is my 1st winter in a GT3. I can tell you I absolutely love driving this car and winter wouldn't be nearly as fun with it sitting under a cover.

Awesome pics - I'm so jelly of you guys. Had it not taken my entire life-savings to buy my 997, I might be enjoying it in the snow as well :-/ For now, I'm too scurrred.
