Yeah, I've had wheels that were almost impossible to get off too. But, I am much more selective about where I take the Porsche than the Hyundai. Even so, I'll get a wrench and start checking the torque. I have another track event next month, and I don't want to rely on having to trust what someone else has done.

A torque wrench is a delicate torque setting tool. Not to be use as a removal tool. Read the instructions, get no surprises. When done with you new torque wrench make sure you set it back to zero when you are putting it away.

Thanks, Smokie.

Next question: Any recommendations from you guys for a decent torque wrench, that will mainly be used for lug bolts?

I have two...one for torquing the oil drain plug and the other which is 1/2" that I use for my wheels and tires.

Two: 1/2 inch and 3/8 inch Craftsman. I've been using 94 ft lbs for decades on wheel bolts/lugs with nary a wheel falling off.

Well, I've been torquing 'em for decades to the following specification: "Hmm... that feels about right"... with nary a wheel falling off either!

I have 3.

One for setting torque on the car.
One for setting torque on the box that I keep the first wrench in.
One under my seat for people who cut me off in traffic. How else will they know they're getting a beat-down from a DIY guy if I don't use a torque wrench to do it?

6 but I mainly rely on 3 for the p-car. According to my SA who is a former p-tech... the 118 ft-lb torque rating is for a specific black colored lug bolt. I didn't ask for any more details but I'm sticking with 96 ft-lb on my 997.1 using the standard rusty Porsche lug bolts. FWIW, I always re- torque my lug bolts if the p-dealer removes my wheels.

My owner's manual doesn't mention 118 lb ft, so I'm not going there.
