Default Leather console

Thinking of pulling trigger and getting leather wrapped console. Anyone do it and regret it? Can't see spending for Porsche branded

I don't know….I would only do the Porsche one. That's just me though.

I have one on order at present.

I was also thinking about getting it done, I found a local craftsman that is good and inexpensive. Might make it my own Christmas present

You may want to check out some reviews on exclusive option leather (no affiliation). They may be an alternative to OEM suitable for you.

Classic 9 Leather is yet another option. If you search this site, you should find pics of leather consoles done by Classic 9 Leather. The price is very reasonable.

But in my case, I went with OEM to ensure I had no regrets. I'm very happy that I did.

You'll think so if the leather isn't a match and it burns your eyes every time you see it

I think of it this way. The price of a new 911 is 5 times more than a typical Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevy etc. Is it 5 times better?

For some yes, for others no.

In my case, I want to keep my Porsche pure OEM as much as possible. If I put in aftermarket "Ford" quality parts in my 911, in my mind it diminishes its Porsche-ness. To be honest, I was really tempted to go with non-OEM due to the price. But my wife knows me well. She said you won't be happy unless it's a true Porsche part and matches the rest of your interior perfectly. My wife was right.

But that's just me. Others on this site have gone the non-OEM route and are perfectly happy with the result.

$3, 500ish for OEM. Not sure you "get what you pay for" - should your car be an non-S '05 that is approaching 10% of its value. Too bad it's so expensive

All I know is that every time I've done something where money was the deciding factor I was sorry from a watchband to a suit to a home renovation to a front door etc.

If every time I look at it I say I wish I would've spent the extra $$$$$……and I ALWAYS wish I would've spent the extra $$$$; There's a cost to letting the $$$ rule! So I do it right the first time but like Mspeedster says….that's just me!

Conversely when I go for the $$$$ and every time I look at it I get pleasure from it every single day then that's a value to me and why I spent it in the first place.

To each his own though….a value to me may not be to you!

Tom

P.S. The OEM is more than $3,500 if you do the entire console including all of the little but necessary parts!
