Line toilet paper around any suspected leakage areas, then pour water little by little and keep checking the toilet paper until you find where it starts to get wet. Then inspect the adjacent areas or anything leading up to it.
Just an update on this issue. Apparently the Navigation system in my car was added at a later date by the previous owner. Even though his local Porsche dealer did the job, they routed the wires improperly and removed or incorrectly installed some grommets. These grommets are supposed to keep any water on the other side of the firewall and out of the frunk.
They (my Porsche dealer) basically had to remove all frunk linings and cowl panels, remove all the navigation wiring and reinstall correctly with the required grommets and seal everything. Labor: $455, Parts: $20, but they assure me my frunk will remain bone dry from now on.
Thanks so much for all the ideas, suggestions and help guys!
Loose rubber grommet by right hand headlight
New to forum and, although this is an old thread, I discovered a remedy for this issue and wanted to post it. My car is a 997. Had lots of water when i opened the trunk and the car had recently been washed. After reviewing this list and looking at all sorts of potential issues (clogged drains, ineffective lid gasket, etc.) i found a grommet that was dislodged. It was a rubber grommet by the right hand side front light (picture attached). I found this leak by pouring water over the headlights and monitoring any water entering the trunk area. Hope this helps someone. Very simple fix! Just pushed the grommet in place and tested. All dry!
Check the drain points I think there are 6 around the battery are not full of dirt leaves and debris ,,,that area can fill with water very quickly and go straight into the trunk ....
