Default spacer install {pics inside!!}

Tonights project went smoothly..

Most of us have seen the usual 7mm front/15mm rear setup for the 997..

I thought that seemed a little too conservative.
Heres my setup as of about 20 mins ago.

I purchased a set of used 14mm H&R spacers a week ago from a rennlister..
(80$)

I then purchased a set of 18mm spacers from kuruma motoring on ebay.
(138$)
Smart guy that I am, I completely spaced (get it) buying extended wheel bolts.
Soooooo.
Bought 10 60mm bolts for the front and 10 63mm bolts for the rear.
(92$shipped)
Also would like to share that ECS tuning was very helpful. Quick shipping too.

Heres the pics.

First,
the stock:

Now,
the spacers:

THx for looking!

Have you driven it yet?

Also, glad you broke out and did some wider ones. After TRYING the 7/15mm setup, I thought the front could easily use more spacer. Those look great. I will be curious if you get any vibration. My fronts were NOT hubcentric and were impossible to get centered and the car vibrated like a b!itch!

My experience was the same as Wheelers. I believe it's a result of having Carerra Sport Wheels. The size and offset on them didn't allow the three "fingers" on the front hubs to properly engage the rims when 7mm non hub-centric spacers were used.

Decided not to drive it last night as my project included a couple glasses of lagavulin...

Ill report tonight after work.

They are hub centric and fit really tight. What a pain to line up the bolts! I hope there's no vibration. Nate

Did you really use the factory supplied jack?
You have the patience of a saint.

Suncoast and others sell wheel locating pins. 2 of them makes mounting the rims to the car much easier. I think they're around $8 each.

Thank you for the kind words and the support Nate. It looks like it turned out great, as far a lining up the bolts, Porsche offers the Wheel Mounting Guide Bolt like Rich mentioned. For more information Click Here.

Nate,
Eager to hear about your results. Looks like you are running factory Lobster Forks, so with your front spacer of 14mm you have an effective ET of 43MM. That is pretty far out there, but looks good in the photos. Stock alignment? or heavy camber?
I concur with Rich and Wheeler, ran a non centric 7mm spacer up front with the sport wheels and experienced vibration.

Thx for the kind words.

I came from a 2008 Lexus ISF and was running some pretty aggressive offsets (read:hellaflush). I'd like to think I'm past that in my life, but who knows.

My goal with this car was an aggressive offset, but to still look the part of a higher end car. I thought 14mm and 18mm was a reasonable compromise for the lobsters.
Tire sizes are 235/35 and 295/30
No rubbing at all in any situation.

Honestly, I think you could even go a bit more in the front. 14mm should be the minimum for our cars IMO.

I have experienced zero vibration.. It might just be placebo, but the turn in seems to be a bit more responsive with these installed.

I'm running stock camber with h&r sport springs.

I'll be painting the wheels a more agreeable color this week. I had to get white out of my mind...
Now that's it's done, I can move to something a little more appropriate.

Nate

Nate, I forgot that your lobsters are 8 inches wide. Yes you have more room for a larger spacer. I am running safely with 8.5 inch wide sport front wheels with an ET of 55 and 7 mm spacers.
That would be an equivalent of your 8 inch wheels with the factory ET of 57 and 21 mm spacer. (If my math is right).

I had the 7mm on the front with 8.5's and it sure looked like it could easily take more spacer....again, just by eyeballing it. Had I thought about it and not been so sick of messing with the spacers I would have at least slapped the 15mm rears on the front to at least see the look.

there are 7mm hubcentric spacers on Ebay, very similar to the Ruf ones. I bought a set and there isn't any vibration:

http://www.oemwheelsplus.com/ebay/wh...-716-KIT-1.jpg

And I bought the Porsche OEM screws from the 5mm spacer kit to hold these ones against the hub

If you want 10mm, Turbolch_de, a German Ebay seller has them too, but without the locking holes for the OEM screws.

Good luck
