I would guess that WD-40, being a solvent, might not mix very will with the plasticizers in the leather that makes it supple, etc. Like, over time, the leather will just come apart

I think PB Blaster is better than WD40. The smell sticks around longer and man is it slippery!

Maybe Aerokroil? If the leather is squeaky or rusty it works much better than WD40.

guys, the first thing you need to understand is what type of leather you have.

http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/...s-leather.html

This has all the impact in the world on what products will do what. Spending a lot of time conditioning protected leather is generally a waste. In fact, keeping it clean with a damp microfiber is probably all it needs to live a long life.

Furthermore, leather should not be shiny.

As to the porsche products, they are simply rebranded stuff from one of the major manufacturers. Figure out which one (shouldn't be hard through google) and you can avoid the asinine porsche tax.

As for wd-40...why? There are so many good cleaners/conditioners out there, there is simply no point to use it.

I also would not use saddle soap...no need for it. lexol cleaner does the job just fine.

Now I know why WD40 spent so much money on developing its unique fragrance, yes, it is to some a perfume. Any one using it as aftershave?

So, is the Porsche "natural leather" option aniline or semi-aniline?

As for WD-40, I don't use it on my seats. I took a belt sander to all of my cars' seats and went from leather to suede.

Saddle soap is a preparatory compound containing mild soap and softening ingredients such as neatsfoot oil, glycerin, and lanolin. It also contains beeswax to protect leather. It is used for cleaning, conditioning and softening leather, particularly that of saddles and other horse tack, hence its name. It is also commonly used for cleaning and conditioning leather footwear and leather camera cases. Regularly cleaning of leather goods extends the lifespan and helps maintain good quality.

This an alternate use. You are correct. But it may ignite if activities last more than 25 min. Be safe.

I can't believe there's a thread on using WD40 on your car seats.
But if your good with it, I guess my questions are then would you use WD40.....
- on your leather sofa
- on your leather shoes
- on your leather jacket
- on your leather ball glove
- on all your leather objects etc. etc. etc.
If yes, then have at it.
