No. The PSE takes that tube and directly vents it to the exhaust ie similar to the gundo so this is nothing like PSE
If you want PSE sound go gundo (and yes, way way cheaper than retrofitting PSE)
Really? Every picture I've seen of OEM PSE mufflers shows otherwise. I do not see anywhere that the inlet before the muffler gets vented to the exit pipe. Which the Gundo hack does.
I bought these from Hank and had a local shop weld them up. Car is a 997.1 and the sound is awsome. Not obnoxious puttering around town, but really howls when you get on it. I couldn't be happier!!
same effect ie pse vents directly to the tips. gundo goes from inlet pipe to outlet pipe to tips
point was that it is not the same as what the hack in this thread shows ie inlet to inlet and cant see how that effects the sound
These are .2 mufflers so the inlet and outlet are the opposite of .1 mufflers. The middle pipe is the inlet. The newly created pipe taps what is normally the outlet on a stock .2 PSE muffler and turns it into an inlet. The gases enter the muffler through both the middle and upper tubes (as the mufflers are installed on the car), go wherever they go inside based on the baffles, and exit through the only exit which is the lowest tube. I have to assume there is less baffling in the third (newly tapped) chamber since this is what the PSE gases go through. Stock PSE has two outlets, this mod has two inlets. Like this:
On a 997.1 this would provide 1 entry in to the muffler, and 2 out. I THINK both outs are muffled however.
On a 997.2 this would provide 2 entry into the muffler, and 1 out. Both entry pipes are muffled on a stock 997.2 muffler however.
The mufflers on a stock 997.2 look like the PSE mufflers on a 997.2, but the internals ARE different.
Gundo type hack truly bypasses the side cans for a % of exhaust gasses on a 997.2. The Hanksville does not.
I am fairly certain any change to flow will change the note, so I am not arguing that the Hanksville on a 997.2 is no different to stock...I am merely arguing it is different in flow to a Gundo.
You have a 996, which may or may not be different than a 997.1 or a 997.2 So I really don't know...I hope someone will here, but you may want to post this in the 996 forum as well.

I have an extra set of mufllers off of craigslist so I can always go back to stock.

What you have there for IN and OUT are reversed. Red is in. Green is out.
