The main reason for getting a 911 is the unique styling and the fact that in my town, I don't see them often. Make me smile.
Other than the SUV, Porsche cars are distinctive from other brands, but not so distinct from each other when viewing from head on. I must admit that to me, the front end of each are too similar to easily distinguish at first glance.
IIRC, at one point the Boxster and 911 shared the exact same front end parts.
911's are definitely unique looking cars. There is no other car out there that remotely looks like a 911!
Well, I don't know about that, the 991 is starting to blur the lines these days. It doesn't look too far off from a number of contemporary GT cars (maybe a bit like a Jag or Aston Martin).
Agreed with the last post. From the rear the 911 is looking like some other car. I guess one of the reasons they had to put the whole porsche emplem at the back just do we all know it is a porsche
Good point. A business associate is looking at an AM Rapide, but I told him he might as well save some coin and get a Ford Fusion since no one can tell them apart from the front anyway. The comment wasn't appreciated. This will never happen with a 911, but in saying that I'm sure some resourceful Chinese company will take a run at it.

The Rapide is one of the most stunning cars on the road. He was probably thinking "hmm, should I really be doing business with this clown?"
Yes, I am well aware that ford "borrowed" the AM look. However, one is a work of art, one is not. If you can't tell the difference, well, I suppose the ford is a very practical alternative.
Funny you mention that about the new Quattroporte. We came to the same conclusion on Sunday when one was at our cars and coffee event. Looks like something designed in Korea.
That's writers looking for something to write about. Let's see, they are both black, they both have vertical lines in their grille, both produced by Ford...yep, totally the same car. Not! Come on!
911 is a car easy to recognize but that does not draw attention of too many people.
I had a Gallardo before the Turbo S and it was not possible to use it: people always looking at it and taking pictures of it. Can't stand it.

Really? You really think that? Not only do I disagree, but I would bet that the auto-community-at-large would wholeheartedly disagree. You can say what you wish about Maserati, or any other Italian marque for that matter, but copying an especially run of the mill marque from Asia is not within accepted tradition. In fact, the opposite is true—and if I may, I can also state that Germans have been known to copy Ferrari (see Benz) and Alfa Romeo (see BMW) for generations.
I am deeply offended by this rather baseless statement.
