Gary,

See post #5 for the sensors that were purchased by USMC_DS1. I got these as well. they have a 1 year warranty from manufacturer and are dirt cheap... They have a rated life of 5+ years.

Mark, sounds like the orange huf model is for non-s models, and the black ones are for s?

Gary,

I think they will both work. They have the Porsche part number equivalent on each page - 997 60602101. If you have a North American car, the 433mhz should work for you.

The Huf (orange)are more expensive than the ORO-TEK (black), but both should work, depending on you car.

I have not verified the Huf monitors you mentioned, so you should call OEWheels to verify if in doubt. Good luck.

Mark

I have the Cayenne 2013 and one tire ( rear passenger ), pressure monitor is reading "-" .
After driving like that and checking the pressure manually, I swapped the rear tires to see if the problem stayed with the receiver or the tire and the "-" reading moved to the rear driver side.

Do I just buy the sensor and have the tire guy install it ?

Is there any thing else to try ?

Your tire guy should have a device that reads battery strength on the TPMS. If it's the original on a 2013 model, you know where this is going anyway.

I went with Tirerack for my TPMS. Guaranteed fit and only $240 or so. May not be as cheap as the discount ones but I don't want to have to worry about the right kind, if refurbished and the pain of install/reinstalling.

I think TPMS sensors are powered by magic. I have an 08 BMW, 08 Audi, and 09 911 all with original factory TPMS sensors.

Sounds like one TPMS is gone and the rest will follow shortly. If you moved it and the - followed it is not transmitting. One thing you can try for sure is to wake up the sensor. Lower the PSI 10 psi and drive for a couple blocks. Then fill back up to EXACT door placard. If it doesn't register then you can be sure it is the TPMS if the rest are giving you a reading.

I have bought from this place. They buy direct from the manufacturer. Black ones are OE direct fit and the orange are programmable, both will work just fine. Also there is no difference between models on the year.

Yeah sadly Tire Rack gets a pretty good premium and with a little research there are plenty of other cheaper options that give the same (if not better) warranty and are also legit TPMS. Ebay, Amazon, the website I posted above etc. Everyone knows Tire Rack so it is a safe bet, you just pay for it.

There is nothing super special about these devices. All cars have them now. If you are getting new tires, just have your tire guy install the ones he uses. He does this all day long. The ones they use are the programmable ones so they will use their reader unit to set the frequency. The best part about letting them install theirs is if a problem occurs, they are responsible for the dismount, replace and remount. My tire guys price was $80 installed. He uses a very popular brand of sensor and has no problem with them. They synched right up. There is no need to go out and buy your own sensors. Keep it simple, let the tire guy deal with any problems. 2011 997.2.
