Default Best iPhone App for track days?

Any suggestions? I like a good one to track my lap time, is easy to use, can plot the racetracks, and just store it for analysis.

Any ideas?

Harry's lap timer pro and get a rammount, you will not be disappointed. I absolutely love the combo. I also run the tow hook rennline mount for my gopro with the remote.

I've been using Harry's Lap Timer for autocross. The lowest cost version (I don't remember what it's called) will do what you ask. The more expensive versions add in filming options and lap-to-lap comparisons. As to ease of use, I struggled a bit with it on my first event since autocrosses don't start and stop at the same place. I didn't realize that I'd need to need to mark both the start and stop.

Anyway, the full blown version will do a surprising amount of things and is worth the price for what it does, in my mind. At least at the moment, it's staving off the desire to upgrade to a traqmate. It's no traqmate, but gives me much I what I need at the moment. However, the tradeoff for the added features is additional complexity. I think there are apps that just record lap times that are far simpler to use.

Thanks guys, anyone has tried "Trackday"? I think HLT looks like a safe bet.

I don't have a mount? Would that make it not very accurate? I might try to secure it in the side pocket somehow.

You want a mount for sure. Especially if you want video. I also purchased the bluetooth OBDII adapter to pull in all the telemetrics when you go to export the video. Here's a lap from Mid-O a couple weeks back at a NASA DE to give you an idea of what you get. Not bad for a $20 app

+1. I subsequently spent almost $2k on an AiM data / video system that is much more expensive and difficult to setup and use than the HLT config described by dwost. The AiM route is better for a racer but not worth the additional expense and complexity for the occasional HPDE, IMO.

Couldn't have said it any better Cloudspin, if you deep end on racing, you will deep end on a full in-car telemetry system. For the weekend racer, it's hard to beat the combo. The app + mount + OBDII adapter total runs about $180 bucks vs. $2k for a full blown system.

I think Harry's lap timer is a bit of a hype.
I absolutely loooooove CMS lap timer
It has predictive lap timing and is bullet proof
For both (Harry's and CMS) an external GPS module is highly recommended

I have used Harry's lap timer a few times. I also bought the ram suction cup mount and a long charging cable. There's also the data port. GoPoint Technology 9105 BT1 Auxiliary Input Adapters

And the upgraded GPS sensor you can add to I crease accuracy.
