FYI, what the dealerships sells in 1 liter bottles as part number 000-043-305-49 has a Porsche label, but if you ask they will tell you it’s actually Mobilube PTX 75-90W. I asked this question just last week when ordering and was told it was called out as as Mobilube PTX in their internal parts catelog. The 1 liter size is about $30, and they also have a 20 liter for about $500 sold as part number 000-043-210-12. Great fluid for the Porsche manual transmission and also the front diff on C4/ C4S cars. Get 3 liters for the trans and 2 for the front diff. It took my dealership a few days to get it.

They have a different part number: 000-043-204-20-SP and do what Suncoast does. They have the 20L and bottle them in 1L to sell individually.

My PTX from Suncoast came in white bottles with Mobil labels on them.... however, I suspect the dealer made those labels... I have no real evidence, just my instincts. I don't really care either way.

I called my local Porsche dealerships, Hoehn and San Diego Porsche and they don't even have the 1L bottles in stock, only the 20L.
Where yours sealed? The ones from Sunset have the twist cap sealed.
My dealer did not have the 1 liter bottles in stock either, they had to order it which took a couple days. Who knows if it’s really PTX or something else, but they say it’s PTX. The label is in German and the only thing obvious is that it’s gear oil. I used it to change the transmission and front diff oil today - so far so good.
another poster had mentioned 000-043-305-49 is mobilube ptx 75w90. I checked with 2 different dealership parts departments and they confirmed the same. It is 000-043-305-49 and available in 1 liter bottles.
there is no mobilube ptx written on the bottle, but in the internal parts description on the PET system it shows up as mobilube ptx

Suncoast is main got-to shop for 1L PTX and now there is Sunset.
They both have the same part numbers; 000-043-204-20

I purchased it at Marin Porsche, which used to be called Sonnen Porsche. Their online parts store is still called Sonnen. The only issue is that they won’t ship this oil directly to you because of chemical shipping regulations, you order it for in-store pickup. I would think all dealers can order it for you, here is the link to this item on the Sonnen website.

Can you please provide which dealerships you've contacted?

sunset and suncoast probably buy the 20l one and repack and use a generic part number. If you google their part number it leads to various different differential fluids on various sites.
I suspect these dealers are getting the message about PTX.... now are jumping in. As I posted before, two local Porsche dealerships locally didn't even stock the 20L stuff let alone 1L bottles and only used Delvac. When I put new PTX in my car last month, I didn't even check my local dealers... probably should have.

i contacted pelican and sonnen, I gave them the part number I posted and asked them if it was mobilube ptx. If you are still not convinced you can continue to buy from your sources.

1)different part's departments and their stories (now Sonnen is stating that they can't ship it when other shops can)
2)inconsistency/lack of knowledge with the service advisor saying it's Delvac, no it's PTX etc
3)the part numbers not matching for PTX
Jeff and Presto, it's not that I don't believe you. It's the inconsistency between from dealerships that I'm trying to wrap my head around. I'm going to have to trust what Sunset sold me, even though it's not the same bottle as Suncoast, yet the same part number but not the same part number as Sonnen or Pelican.

BTW, Delvac is not evil...... but it is not formulated for Transaxles. It is, however, so I've been told, a Porsche recommendation for GT3s or those who track their cars.

Regarding a service manager saying "Delvac no its PTX"..... that is not what I understand the two dealerships here outside of Philly say. When they say Delvac.... it is Delvac. Period. They will hand you a jug of Delvac. They just didn't have or use anything else. They did not stock anything else, Porsche or not. This angered me and why I didn't even bother checking the two dealerships here. I just avoid them in general. Now with PTX demand on the rise, maybe they now stock it, but I don;t know this for sure.

I have a Getrag V160 6 speed in my Supra and it doesn't take kindly to Royal Purple, Redline and Amsoil fluids; only the V160 fluid from Toyota in the 1L aluminum can. The Supra non turbo has an Aisin R-154 5 speed transmission. Both use different fluids and you don't want mix fluids between the two. Those off the shelf brands will swell up the bushings making it tough to go to first gear and second gear when it's cold; similar to those with 6 speed Carrera's. My C2S has minor symptoms of 1st gear crunch and is remedied by going to 2nd gear and then back to 1st. I'm assuming it's original fluid from 2006 so at 11 yrs is probably a good time to replace it with fresh fluid.
My apologies, but that's not what I meant. I meant the service dept suggesting Delvac for your 997.2 Carrera knowing it's an Aisin? Isn't it Delvac for Getrag and PTX for Aisin? Could the thread about owners switching to PTX and having smoother shifting be a result of the dealerships advising the wrong transmission oil with Delvac?

The issue with the two dealers here near Philly is really simple..... they didn't know what the spec was for our cars. 997.2 manual is just one transmission type and our owner's manual specs one specific oil, PTX. These two dealers did not care. They put in Delvac. That is what ticks me off about them. They had no idea and didn't care. When I posted this issue a few years ago, I got two PMs from Rennlisters ... each went to their dealer (not my two) and said they wanted PTX... both said "no". Not needed.... or somethingorother. Bizarre. So much for your dealer knowing all... heck four dealers now not only didn't have PTX but denied it was important.
