Sun Coast Porsche in Sarasota had them on sale recently. I have pse on my '07C4sX51 cab & it does sound cool but I wouldn't order/pay extra for it! The "normal" sound is a bit quieter but I think has a better tone. I always worry about it failing & there is no HP increase! Good luck.

I installed a used one a few months ago. While I like having the option of loud or quiet setting, I find I leave it in quiet for most of my driving, and only occasionally activate the sport setting when I want a little extra noise. I wouldn't pay the price of a new one, and luckily found used parts and installed it myself for minimal cost. The PSE mufflers do weigh more than standard mufflers.

Not quite what you want, but they sound very nice (according to my neighbor and ex 996 owner), not too laud (TUV approved in Germany) and excellent quality.

I got them through Frank at Orange Tuning. Excellent guy to work with!

Cheers,

After turning on the ignition, I hit the button for PSE. I rarely, if every, drive without it. I respect the guys opinions above, but to me, the car is too quiet without it. Compared to the '09s and up, it's got superior tone regardless, but the PSE changes the driving experience for the better.

To me, of course--YMMV!

They used to be 1500-1800 brand new from Suncoast or Sunset, along with a lot of other 997.1 parts which were a lot cheaper (X51 headers were 500).

Then all of a sudden everything jumped, I've been on the fence, waiting for a sale, but NEVER seen it lower than $3K and I just don't think it's worth that much... X51 headers had the biggest jump, from 500 to 1200! Unreal...

ab996, I have a 997.1 PSE that I am looking to sell.... I replaced it with an exhaust from AWE at about 20k miles. Have some pics of the exhaust and the tips if you are interested....

Have u tried gundo before? It effectively acheives the same things as PSE with it being always on which to me is a plus. Worst case scenario, you try it you don't like it, you're out $200-300. I'd give that a shot before shelling out $3k for PSE. Love those tips though.

I NEVER drive with my PSE off. Great sound! I added the PSE 6 weeks after I bought the car. I will never own a 911 without PSE.

On the contrary, I've never driven mine on "quiet"!!!

I'm glad I have it, but I'm another one that drives 90+% of the time with the PSE off.

And I'd definitely like it more if it didn't do the speed-based "it's on-it's off-it's on" stuff.
