+1. Sunset shipped me 4L for about $106, which was hard to beat.

Going to be doing this on my 997.2 in the next coupe weeks. I ordered the Mobilube PTX from Suncoast and 2 oil drain plugs to replace out the fill and drain holes. I’m now looking through this thread and wondering if these drain plugs will work or not? They look like the same drain plug for the engine oil. Anyone know if they’re the same? Will I need new ones like with an engine oil change, or will cleaning the existing ones be sufficient.

All the DIY write-ups for gear oil change (including this one) seem to be on manual cars. Is the procedure the same for PDK cars? I realize the PDK also requires a clutch fluid change which is not what I'm asking about. I'd like to have the information on final drive/transmission gear oil change on 997.2 PDK cars. Specifically, are the drain and fill locations the same? Thanks for any information.

Excellent write up/photos!
**Also recent topic (due to rare Front Differential failure) for C4 & C4S owners to change the Front Differential Fluid regularly.
Had mine done last month and suggested fluid is a 75W90 GL-5 Gear Oil.

I'm glad to see Redline being used, which is my brand of choice for gearbox and differential fluid changes in the BMW world.

It’s slightly different for PDK. I documented an oil change on my 997.2 GTS here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...l#post17538655

About the crush washer thing - I just called my local dealer and they priced the two washers (drain and fill) at $21 each. Wow. I have a number of new oil plug crush washers on the shelf - seems too good to be true that you can just use the oil washer for the tranny...
???
I guess it's pretty well stated by a couple of people above that it works well - does anyone disagree with that approach?
