+1 MPSS
Those P-zero Rossos that came with the car were hot garbage.

My rear Pirelli P Zero's had to be replaced at 9K miles. The road noise was very loud.

My big issues with the Pirelli's was flat spotting.
I hated those tires. So glad I got rid of them...

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anybody have any experience going from Potenza RE050A to the PSS? I think the Potenza is an adequate tire but they get pretty of noisy after about a month from new. I am close to having to change my tires and have to decide.

PS, I don't mind engine noise at all (in fact I love it) but tire noise really grates me.

You are basically upgrading a generation in tires by doing so, the ultra high performance tires on first gen were:

- PZero Rosso
- PS2
- RE050A

NEW Gen tires are:
- PZero (oldest of the bunch)
- MPSS (replaced PS2)
- S04 (replaced RE050)

To me, MPSS was a bit quieter than PS2, but honestly you can't tell much of a difference and to me, the bigger issue is the cabin noise isolation or lack thereof (as they add weight, muffle engine noise), so most tires would be louder.

I have Michelin PS2 on my car now and need new rears. Can I replace just the rears with the PSS or do I need to switch all four? Thanks

Usually rears wear out sooner than fronts. Should be fine with changing just rears unless you track. For street driving it should be fine.

You could but why? If it's to get better performance, you will NOT, as your fronts are older and a different match to rears... so I'd say don't.

If you think PS2 is too expensive, better option is to change all four to maybe S04 which is almost as much as two PS2 rears!

I think you should stick with the same model of tire on all four corners. Doing otherwise may adversely affect handling and therefore safety.

This is correct. You cannot mix tires because different models have different handling characteristics.

UPDATE: A generous list member has offered to take the Pirellis off my hands, so I have ordered a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS (all season) tires, which should arrive this week. Hopefully those will make me happier. That's for the 911. For the Panamera, I'm going to try and suffer through the summer on the PZeroes, and then come fall I'll buy either the Michelin Pilot Sport A+S Plus Ultra Supremes, or another set of the Bridgestones.

Thanks all for the comments - they helped to push me over the edge. I'll try to remember (if I can find it) to update the thread in a month or two with my impressions of the Bridgestones.

My Pzero fronts have about 2K left in them for a total of 12K. At that point I will switch over all 4 to the latest and greatest. Already on my second set of PZeros on the rear. I have been reasonably pleased with the PZeros

You should have probably gone for Bridgestone S04, and keep it still summer, and ultra high performance.

Maybe I wasn't clear earlier - I don't want summer tires. If I did, I would have kept the Pirellis and a whole bunch of money.

Ok, I guess that works better for you. Let us know how those tires do for you, it's a rare combo so not much reviews.

BTW, what size did you get? I just searched on Tirerack and there's no All-season available in our sizes?!

EDIT: Never mind, second search yielded results... not sure why it didn't earlier.
