I fit fine in the new Cayman at 6'-4". Leg fully extended with foot under the brake pedal, so a slight bend in the knee when brake is fully depressed.

Also, I am 6'-4" and had absolutely no issue with the size of the cabin.
Sounds like it was a good time. You converting to a Cayman S?

Believe me, I want to like the car to the point of buying one but the power issue is a deal breaker. And, I might add, in my opinion Carreras are underpowered as it is (and I own one)... so I'm already sympathetic to owning an underpowered car for other reasons, but with the Cayman/Boxster it's just sooo bad. Even if you point to some good numbers on paper now, it's somewhat spoiled because a good part of those nice 0-60 numbers are due to launch control and fast PDK shifting. You're not being thrown back into your seat with acceleration, and it's no fun.

This also matters so much because unlike handling around corners when you're near 10/10 of the car's abilities, you can utilize all of the power when accelerating onto the highway and such. In real world driving you get to enjoy the power, but if you're taking the car to its limits around turns on public roads then maybe one's license should be revoked. In real world spirited driving in the twisties, the Cayman/Boxster's is not going to leave a Carrera behind.

Lastly, it really sucks being cockblocked in traffic by other vehicles such as many pickup trucks with a chip, stock BMW 335's, etc. that have superior torque. Maybe it's just the pathetic people here in AZ but it's quite often that someone in one of those vehicles or other will try and gun it so you can't pass them (and this is not a plain appeal to street racing either, so don't read me wrong). One of the essential, really really essential parts of owning a sports car is that you can be in front of other traffic in some cases if you want to.
Turbo? 997/991

I've thought of keeping the 997.2 and adding a turbo in a few years, maybe a cab.

An instructor buddy took me for a ride in the Blue/White run group at Lime Rock in his 996 Turbo. The power/acceleration was unbelievable! 997 Turbo S with it's 100 more hp sounds like serious fun!

I'm 6'2" 195 with a 36" inseam so I'm pretty long legged. I always felt like I needed either an extra inch of seat travel or a bit more rake to get to get truly comfortable in the Boxster. As was mentioned above, with the bulkhead behind the seat, that was impossible.
Yeah that makes sense. I'm a 34" inseam. Any longer and I'd be running up against the firewall. I have 0 issues in my Dads 7.2 GT3 though...def has a larger airy feeling cabin compared to the 987.

The Cayman Conspiracy video, interviews with President of GMG Racing and Road & Track Editor-in-Chief.

Interesting perspectives.

Thanks for sharing. Not sure why there's any need to call it a conspiracy. It seems rather obvious that Porsche is holding back the Cayman because of the problems it would create for selling so many pricier 911's.

It was at the end in the credits. Catchy title perhaps? Little bit of marketing to create the buzz around this debate.

I had many different Porsches and Ferraris before. 911 turbo , 997 .2 gt3 and now own the 430 scud. I test drove a 2014 Cayman S pdk last week along with a 991 c2s. I am very impressed by the Cayman s. Amazing balance, great looks and excellent soundtrack. Imo its got to be the Most Exciting usable sports car for street and track. I prefer it over the 991 c2s , cayman s sounds better , handles better , feels lighter and most importantly i enjoyed driving it every bit over the 911.

I think i am going to buy one!

I would opt for the Boxster over the Cayman. I like the open top experience.

Nice car, but Porsche could put 500hp in the Cayman and I still would only be interested in the 911.

You can drop a 3.8 DFI into a Cayman. That's what Bullet Racing did and pulled in a 2nd in class at Le Mans last year. That must be a BEAST.
