I Had To Come Back Into The Fold
A couple of years ago, I lost my job, and decided to sell my beautiful ’10 C2S Cabriolet back to the dealer. Although I loved having a Porsche (prior, I had a 08’ C2S Coupe), I thought I had good and valid reasons why I should sell it. Shortly afterwards, and it may be hard to believe, I began to feel as though a part of me was missing. After being unemployed for two years, I decided to “retire,” and collect my Social Security. So, as I began to feel better about my financial security, I decided that I wanted (needed?) my Porsche back, and be “whole” again. But I also believed that at this stage of my life (age 66, and retired), I shouldn’t spend as much as I did before ($125K for an “S”), and that I should save money for other things in life. So I decided on “just” a base Carrera Coupe, with only a few options. I spec’d out a C2 for about $100K, and went to the local dealer for information, and possibly ordering a 2014. I ran into the used car Manager to whom I had sold my '10 C2S. A nice guy! As it turned out, they had just gotten in a “previously-enjoyed” 2012 Carrera (991). Anthracite Brown Metallic /Luxor Beige, PDK, Bose, 20” wheels, sunroof, heated/ventilated seats, and a few other options. MSRP in May, 2012 was $99,500. The used car Manager offered me the '12 C2 for what I believed was a super good deal, including CPO, which extends the warranty to 5 years, 2 mos. All told, I have a “new” 2012 Carrera, and didn’t spend an additional $25,000 -- $40,000. Now I’m feeling “whole” again, and happy to be back in the Fold.

Whenever the dealer puts those plate frames on any car I purchase, I always tell them that they can leave them there, but that I charge $500/month for advertising. That usually gets a guy with a screwdriver out in the lot...

This is my 3rd P-Car I've bought from Gaudin ('08 C2s, '10 C2S, & '12 C2). I think it is a good dealership, and have always been treated very well. But I've never been able to talk them out of putting on the front license plate bracket. So as soon as I get home, I take off the bracket, get some plugs, and fix the front.

Beautiful. $99K seems to be what dealers are asking for lightly optioned 2012 991S. Yours appears to be will optioned non-S, and you probably bought it for where they end up on the light optioned cars. Congrats, and given your story, I know you'll enjoy the car. It's a beast and a blast to drive.

What about the holes they drilled in a previously unmolested bumper? Great looking car mgordon. Enjoy.
