Default Disabling PSE speed sensor.

Having your PSE set to 'on' and still quieting itself down between 20-40mph is a bit of a drag. I came across this information while searching for information about PSE wiring.

http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...ools-required/

It's from the 996 forums but I have to believe it's applicable to our 997's as well, no? Seems like a very simple work around for the speed sensor.

Has anyone performed this on their 997? I have to admit I'm not sure where this relay is located.

Just a note from a 996'er who did this mod, its very easy and well worth the time. Just remove the diode and enjoy an un governed exhaust at all speeds. Hope its as easy on the 997

Did you do it on a 996 or 997?

Where abouts is this relay located?

Not sure we have this relay in 997's. I just have on/off switch, by passing ECU.

If you're talking about 997.1 there are lots of posts from 3 and 4 years ago on how to either disconnect an electrical plug (very easy) or a vacuum tube to have PSE on all the time. I disconnected the plug, never had any problems but there are some reports of damage to the "flaps" when PSE is on all the time. Search and you'll find this info with good pictures.

Oh certainly. That's how I've been running all the time, 'unplugged'. I've recently been thinking of installing a set of AWE cats however and thought it would be nice to have the option to quiet things back down when necessary. But when it's loud I want it loud throughout the rev range!

Spend a lot more for the remote unit or do this:
RM01 1 Channel Wireless Control On/Off : Amazon.com : Automotive RM01 1 Channel Wireless Control On/Off : Amazon.com : Automotive
The solenoid can be activated with a 9 volt battery, also.

So I have seen the directions for disabling the speed cutoff on the 996. I guess my question is what is the most popular way to disable the speed cutoff on a 997.1 C2s? I know it is possible to disconnect the brown plug. but I still want to use my sport button for the throttle response change and to toggle pse on and off. I do not want to install any aftermarket switches in my interior. I just want to disable speed cutoff on 997.1

Yeah, count me w/ 997 owners who would like to get rid of the PSE speed-based cutout without having to have it on "loud" ALL the time.

When I searched the forum awhile back for a DIY way to do this, I didn't find anything. If I missed something, let me know!

If the brown plug is disconnected does the sport button still activate the throttle response change?

Has anyone delved into the fuse area and checked if we have the same relay as the 996 that we can simply snip?

I currently have a 2006 C2S and I looked under my driver side dash and There isn't any visible rely (with that weird German name on it) like the 996. but i think I spotted a relay cover above the fuse box. I decided to do more research before trying to pull if off......
