Boxster Loaner
I received a new Boxster loaner from Walter's and boy it is cramped inside. The service tech mentioned that I would like the new series PDK and I do but with the whole package including the electronic steering the car felt numb! No feel at all in the steering wheel almost like I am not even driving! Also center console is way too busy. But hey at least I got a Porsche loaner so I can't complain!

The new Boxster must have grown inside then. I had several old Boxster loaners and at 6'3" it was not a good fit at all. Hated the driving position. Loved the fun factor though.
I got an 2013 Boxster for a loaner too. I hated it. At 6'4" and 220 it was tight and I could not get the seat comfortable. I had it for almost a week. Then I got put into a Panamera. Both were a V6. I would take the Panamera all day long before I would the boxster.
Yean even at 6 ft it is tight and too closed. This is a non S and a toad doesn't even feel like a Porsche! Heading over to pick up my Carrera S and can't wait to appreciate what I drive.
I'm 6'0 and 245 currently with really broad shoulders. Sorta built like a linebacker. No space issues whatsoever in the Boxster (any generation actually). To each his own I guess?

I test drove the 981 back to back with my 997.2, I was not cramped at all, but it was clear to me which car felt more solid, it should for almost double the price. With that said, it took me all of about 20 feet to notice the distinct difference in the steering, it was not even close.
I was a few hours away from ordering a 981 S, after multiple back to back drives with it and a 997.2 it changed my mind. To be fair I also decided against a Cabrio becuase I did not like the road noise and lack of visibility in the Boxster so it was not just the Boxster, it was also the fact it was a Cabrio. If I lived down south I would probably of gone for a Cabrio, but I do not.
I drove the base Boxster and it was very slow, much slower than I expected, I traded in an Audi TT that seat of the pants felt much faster.
Both different cars for sure, good to have choices.

I am sure if it was an S it might have felt different and yes I haven't been in mid engine Porsche since my 914-6. After driving it for the second day it wasn't as bad got more used to it. As to the numb remark I was referring to the fact the steering wheel doesn't have any movement at all on the highway while with my 997.2 you get more road feel. I guess I should have at least put the top down for the expierence but then I would end up with clown hair. One thing I really liked was the updated PDK.
I just bought a 2013 base Boxster and it's awesome! I traded a 2006 base Boxster for it, and the upgrade is unreal. The interior now feels expensive, and it does come with more options as standard than they did in the past. The shift linkage is 100% better which was a major annoyance with my 2006. The 2006 handled like a go-kart, but the 2013 is just that much better. It's also more stable at speed on the highway, but I'm sure some of that is due to the larger wheel size. I just had clear bra installed today, and at 600 miles, the motor is starting to wake up.
Now, for the tough part. It makes me want to sell my 2010 997.2, and wait for the right 991. I've asked the dealer for a buy bid on the 2010, and if the number works, the hunt for a 991 is on.

Thanks! Yes, they are the base 18" wheels. It had 19s on it, but the switch to the 18s put the payment right where I wanted to land. They're very easy to clean, and I do like the look, but may put the 19s back on it some day.
I bet I got the same loaner form Walters. I actually like it. The PDK made for a fun little ride. It was tight getting in, but once in it was comfortable and well laid out. Not a replacement for the 997 but could be a fun little diversion.
