I am surprised that some of you have not seen any debris in your filters. I cut open my filters at 3k mile intervals and see similar debris to the OP. Mind you, I track my 06 997 S so that could be the difference. The answer I got from the GM of Porsche after sales service was that it was common for engines to shed a little wear, especially during start up. I was reassured that it was nothing to be worried of. My car has done 30K miles.

I haven't see metal debris of this size in any of my oil changes and I've been changing myself for 75k miles(though i have ocassionally seen bits of rubber sealant, more like aluminum dust, plastic dust etc). That said, I don't think i'd have a heart attack over it right away. I've seen debris like this in other cars that was leftover from when they machined the case. Are these bits magnetic? If they're not magnetic I don't think I'd fret that badly. If they're magnetic I think i'd really have to do some more serious investigations(oil analysis, boroscope, leakdown etc).

If any of those small cracked pepper bits are ferrous that can be cause for concern.

Those few flakes of alum. not so much.
