Default Sport button on 997.1

Is it worth installing that sport button on a 997.1 manual without a sports exhaust. Apart from also activating the PASM, I understand it would only effect the throttle response. Any noticeable difference?

like you mentioned, w/o PSE it will pretty much only effect throttle response and PASM. also, with Sport on, and PSM off (traction control), i believe there is less interference from the car's ABS computers at the limit.

personally, i love the extra throttle response, but hate the harshness of the PASM in sport mode on regular streets. the first thing I do when i start the car is sport on/PASM off. i also have PSE (now fitted with Fabspeed valvetonic mufflers and 200 cell cats), so that adds to the excitement of drving with sport ON on my end.

+1.. I love the sport button, it's night & day difference on my C2, in my opinion. I too don't care much for the stiffened suspension during normal street driving. I have a hacked exhaust so the sound + aggressive throttle is a perfect combination.

How do you install a Sport Button?

You can retro fit it at any Porsche Centre, costs about R9000 in South Africa, which works out to about $1000 US.

I have never been impressed that the sport button on my 997.1 C4 manual does anything noticeable at all. If you want better throttle response, I'd recommend the ThrottleBoost, for which we had a group buy here about three years ago. It reduces or removes the built-in electronic throttle delay (it doesn't actually 'boost' anything, though it feels like it does since you are so used to the throttle delay), with several settings. Interestingly, the zero-delay setting makes the throttle so responsive it is a bit too twitchy even for use on the track.

Got a 997.1 S Cab, no sport button or Chrono. PASM and PSM. Can I add Sport button at dealer? Also ECU upgrade? Does it engage the PASM, deactivate the PSM, also adjust shift points on Triptonic? Cost?

Default 997.1 S no sport mode

Yes, just got it from a dealer. Came w/o sport chrono. That is why I wanted to do a dealer install. I read it is something I can get but want to know if it comes with trip tonic modification as well as PASM activation. Also, can I buy a reprogrammed ECU to tune hp and torque.

Which dealership quoted you this?

Can you remap the car so that 'sport mode' is permanently engaged ?
(without installing the sport button)
