Bill, mind sharing how much you were charged by the skilled welder that did this for you? Could be a good benchmark for me as I continue my search for someone similar in my area.

I have a 997.1S, and I had a local muffler shop do my Gundo hack. It came out well, but, I wish it were louder still. I went with a 2" bypass pipe. I think high flow cats may make it sound a little deeper, I don't know....

I paid $400 for the complete mockup and all installation. I simply dropped the car off in the morning, and picked it up in the afternoon.

I was billed $250.00, which I was happy to pay. The owner asked me afterward what others were charging and I told him I thought that he was right in the ballpark for the work that he did.

Well I took a drive with the new system and to my ear, it sounds very good. As noted in other threads, the initial start-up in the garage (window's down, of course) was louder than I expected. Once out and driving, it sounded good. There's definitely more of a presence, but it wasn't intrusive and there was zero drone. With that said, it's snowing here now, so I won't get more seat time for a little while.

I think that it's worth mentioning that to remove the exhaust tips (at least on a 997.2) you'll need an Female torx socket/E socket #10 size for the job.

I recently had a Gundo hack and it was definitely a different sound than I'm used to. While I like the sound, I'm still unsure if Im completely happy with the result. I think it is too loud, similar to an American muscle car.

Maybe I just need to get used to it.

malexgcab,

Was that a 997.1 or 997.2?

My Gundo was $150 with stainless 2" pipe. I took the mufflers to the shop.

Worth every penny.

I have the Gundo hack as well 997.1cab not even close to a muscle car sound. Not doubting your assessment, I just don,t hear the American muscle sound. It is more exotic sounding to me, it does take some time to get use to over stock comparison which was virtually quite.

I guess I just need to get used to it. Gundo was 2"pipe.

Excessive noise is a personal preference.... I went straight for the muffler delete pipes, which I had only planned on using for track days and as a temporary fix while having the Gundo performed. After hearing the car with them installed, my mufflers are still sitting around collecting dust. Closest thing to an aircooled you can get, and for $200 with none of the weight... Done.
