Looks like 5900 is abundantly available at the one place I did not look - the p-dealer. Spoke to my SA and it's what Porsche uses/recommends for the oil pan so the project is back on and I'm going with Loctite 5900.

Also seems that Ultra Grey will fully cure in 24 hrs vs. 1 wk for 5900... good to finish up the project sooner but I wonder if the slower curing 5900 is better somehow. If anyone know more about these sealants please chime in as sealants are not my area of expertise. TIA.

The sump plate is very easy to seal with either as long as the surfaces are clean. The 5900 is ver difficult to remove once it is cured, the Ultra Grey cleans up in a couple minutes.

Looks like Porsche used 5900 originally. It wasn't too bad to remove. Used a box cutter blade to remove the bulk of the old sealant, a brass cleaning brush to remove whatever was left, then Isopropyl to finish up. BTW, thanks for the advice regarding the mock assembly. It was a tight fit but it all came together in the end. Now I'm just waiting for the 5900 to cure overnight before I check the seal in the morning.

Just to let everyone know the sale has officially ended.

Thanks for helping out with the information, USMC_DS1 !

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have put together an installation kit for our oil pan, here is the link...

And we have a magnetic drain plug that might appeal to everyone as well, here is the link...

These kits will come with installation instructions as well.

Thanks for the orders!

Rhonda

Rhonda, thanks for an excellent product and promo pricing. More FVD jewelry next to my exhaust system.

Byproduct, thanks for the insight re the mock fitting.

Bed997, just finishing up the DIY documentation. Should be able to post soon.

Default FVC oil pan experience

just curious if you had actual experience with this product that you would share? I'm seriously considering do this to my 987.1 boxster S.

also, has the additional 3/4 qt oil capacity caused any problems with you car's oil level sensor system?

cheers!

The FVD oil pan and baffle is working well. I still need to test it out on a track but on the streets there has been zero issues. The oil e-gauge is working properly. It's a nice piece of hardware. I know you have a Boxster but here's a DIY write-up on the 997.1 which should give you an idea of the installation process. GL and let us know if you end up with one. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...l#post10245275

BTW, Rhonda at FVD is great to deal with...
