8 yr old plugs... now I can say there is a big difference!! Idle is smooth.. even if you put in reverse or drive no feel any change in engine vibration!! This is great... and all in 2hrs work... satisfied... on a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 4 with 10 being the most difficult... it use to be a 5 to 6 when I did not remove the bumper....
If anyone can change the plugs on a .2 you are a magician. I have never been able to get the rear ones without the side Mufflers loosened and wheels off. Never had to remove the mufflers just loosen to move them outward to get at the screws holding the rear 2 coil packs . Petza... you are the man if you can change the plugs on a 997.2 S without removing the mufflers.
Both my 997s are .1s and one has Fabspeed headers which may change the access, but my wife's is stock with stock headers and gundo mufflers and I've changed those with wheels and mufflers installed.
I think it doable as the 997.2 manual does not even say to remove bumper, muffler or other things except the wheels... normally the Porsche manuals want us to remove so many things... I actually wanted to try but chickened out since I only had 2 hrs... but after this change I think it shouldn't be a problem doing the 4yr reco of porsche.. the plugs are inexpensive and the change is worth it...

I replaced plugs and coils on my 997.2 C4S after coil issue at 45k km, the Bosch plugs and Beru coils are the original brands and models used by Porsche.
I choice to remove the rear bumper (15mn if you do it for the second time) and the 2 side exhaust mufflers to have full access to plugs keeping wheels in place.
I have the PSE and I had to remove the vacuum tubes of the exhaust valves before to remove the side mufflers.
Like explain above no anti-seize on plugs thread and respect of the torque.
997.2 plugs can be changed without removing anything. Many good indies do it this way. However as alluded to above, the recipe of sockets and extensions and trick gymnastics with the hands has to be developed. For the occasional user the best advice may be to remove what you need to get a clear shot. If you have a fear of cross threading sparkplugs into an aluminum head (be afraid) then take the safe route. It will take more than a few rodeos to figure out how to do it "in situ" , The pros do it this way, but you don't have to. Take your time and enjoy the experience , no matter which method you adopt. Or put another way, "the quick method may take you much longer". 997.2

my version of the workshop manual says to take off everything. I would recommend it. It makes it pretty painless. Doing this once 4 or 8 years I’m not going to remember how I did it last time.
Did my plugs while doing an exhaust swap. No idea when PO changed them last…pretty dirty. Straightforward job, but would’ve been a pain if I wasn’t already taking everything off for the exhaust anyway.

Green and blue rings.... one is Porsche labelled, the other Bosch labelled. Hmmm.... that is odd..... are the numbers stamped on the metal the same?

They are now unfortunately deep in my dumpster. I did notice that as well, as if one spark plug on each side had been changed since they were different. But they were in there for a while is my guess and the car ran perfectly fine.
