I'm sure there are many great threads in the history of this forum. But imo, this one is #1. Completely awesome.

Awesome story. Very moving. I'm SO glad that uncle Tom finally got to ride a 911.

You are a wonderful nephew James and a great man. The world needs more men like you. Same goes to the other RL'ers who helped make this happen!!

Glad to see everyone enjoyed the day. May we all be as blessed.

God's speed to uncle Tom !

Default Thank you my fellow RL members!

We could not have made this very special day happen for Uncle Tom and Aunt Harriet without this unique and wonderful forum. My Aunt and Uncle were so very touched by everyone's kind gestures. They would like to especially recognize Kika for the 993 key and Porsche logo'd key chain given to Tom... and daberlin for his professional photos and the ride in his Arctic Sliver 997. Uncle Tom could not stop talking about his ride in the Carrera for the remainder of our day with him... it was the 1st time he's ever ridden in a Porsche, what a great time he had, he loved the sound of the engine and the cars sudden and intoxicating acceleration. Aunt Harriet hopes that we'll be able to do another brunch again in the future and extended an invitation to all off us. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You've made it possible for a man to complete a varied and colorful journey through life with the punctuated p-car grin that all of us are fortunate enough to feel each and everyday we DD our car. What a great gift! I am humbled by your kindness. Thank you! Thank you!

RL letter of membership to Uncle Tom... thanks Bob Rouleau for the letter head.

It was truly a pleasure to participate in honoring Uncle Tom and make some new friends.

Aunty Harriet reminds me very much of my own Auntys from Honolulu!

I had such a great time talking about everything from Porsche and Cameros to real estate, to children, travel experiences (Uncle Tom and Aunty Harriet have traveled to every one of the 50 states!, Antarctica, Europe, Yugoslavia.

I lost track of time, and when I noticed that it was 2:15 (and I had to get my daughters to church at 3:00, 20 miles away) I unfortunately had to say my goodbyes and depart, though I would have loved to spend more time with this truly loving, gracious family.

Such an event would not have been possible except for Rennlist, its member community that fosters such gestures and of course James, for conceiving the idea and then executing.

Dave, could you have taken a dorkier picture of me??? (Pic 6, talking about the history of Rennlist (Porschephiles) Ha! at least there are other ones where I look normal!

Aloha

Kika,

True, DAT! That is generally my approach too, but your cameras are way cooler than mine...

BTW while I over here in the 997 area, this Saturday, 2Feb 2013 is German car day at the Palos Verdes cars and coffee.

I too have been watching this since the beginning. I had a hard time keeping my composure when telling my wife about this story. Now seeing how this all came together was an amazing testimony of the compassion in people that we seldom see any more.

Well done gents. This is the kind of thing I hope I can be a part of some day.
