I have a midnight blue car. Keeping swirls off the car is not easy...so...I finally took the plunge and bought a dryer to dry my car with. It's a MetroVac master Blaster. I also got a foam gun to apply suds during the wash. I have had a Flex polisher for months now...it's fantastic and works as advertised. But if you don't use a dryer, the swirls you take out with the polisher just get put back into the car.
Today, after a practice session yesterday on my daily driver, I used the foam gun and dryer on the Porsche. Bottom line results...fantastic. I was able to wash the whole car with a minimum of touching...and therefore limit the dreaded swirls that seem to appear when I use even the best towels out there.
A couple of tips...the dryer is ridiculously powerful. 58000 cubic feet per minute. So, if you are planning to use this on your car, be careful. I actually dislodged one of the door seals on the driver side with it. It easily poped back in place, but still.
Also...the engine hood and rear spoiler need to be open/deployed when drying. The hood ornament, side view mirrors, door handles, sun-roof seal and rear tail-light assemblies also trap a lot of water. After I was done, I took the car out for a drive. I saw a few tiny drops around the car after a short drive...but nothing like I would have without the dryer.
Anyway...here are a couple of pictures. Note...I am still working on the foam mixture, I think I want it to be a little more sudsy. The picture below was taken after just foaming the top of the car.

I got it at Autogeek...there are other places to get it though. This is the 8HP version. They make a 4 HP one...but this one gets better reviews an after using it, I can see why. You can run this with one or two blowers...so 4HP or 8HP. Like I said earlier...it's a lot of air coming out of this thing.

Looks great, always wondered about a foaming gun... and whether a real blower would be a good addition to my growing collection of detailing supplies. I have an old electric leaf blower that seems to suffice for now, it was only $40 new and seems to do the trick, but can imagine it leaves a lot to be desired compared to the real deal

Metro makes great products. Anyone looking should consider their vacuum/blower, it's the same as above but adds a fiberglass filter and vacuum accessories to the package. So you get Vacuum and Blo all in one. I just killed my fourth fourth Griots vacuum which had similar features but just isn't built well.

Nice work! For darker colors, it really does the trick.
Yes, minimal paint contact with wash mitts and towels will prevent micro-scratching. I use a capful of Optimum no-rinse and the cleanest water possible provided by a de-ionizing water system (0 ppm harness) then follow up with an electric blower to get those hidden areas. All those areas you mention allow water to sit, along with the water passages for the sunroof and under the f/r window seals which hopefully aren't clogged up.
Takes about 30-40 minutes but the results are very satisfying.

As far as leaf blowers...if it is working for you I would stay with it. The MetroVac does heat the air...as well as filter it. And I suspect the 58000 ft^3/minute is more than a leaf blower. But you pay for the privilege...I found a $50 coupon and ended up paying $339. So, it's not cheap. But after a couple uses...it is working as advertised...so that's good.
I don't think they make a blo&vac with this kind of power...but I may have missed something. They definitely make blo&vacs though. Just go to their site. metrovacworld or autogeeek.

The hand wash place I use has all this equipment, I think their blower is 200hp.
They also have a bar next door with outside patio. It is 72F in Houston today.

I noticed the mitts you're using...OK for tires and wheels, not so much for paint, IMHO.
Since you're obviously obsessed with this, and rightly so, invest in an excellent wool mitt, and only use it on painted surfaces, with the 2 bucket method you're already using.
Looks good!
