I've had several cars in different shades of silver. My favorite is the Polar Silver on my first 911 a new 964, closely matched by my Blue Water BMW 540. They are nearly the exact same shade and tint.
The Arctic Silver on my GT3 looks a touch blue to me. There's a strange quality to the finish when viewed though polarized sunglasses ... it creates curves where none exist. I'm forever checking the car for dents. It's a great colour though .. looks very "high tech".
There was another thread comparing all colour in detail photos, I am sure someone can dig it up.
GT Silver cost is Porsche deciding to make it a cost option for THAT YEAR, when next year it maybe standard color, etc... GT Silver is nice, and I prefer to Arctic which is more silver/silver, while GT leans towards grey. So, depends on your liking for darker or lighter.
Having been a mainly Silver guy, There is nothing more striking than a Silver exterior on Metropol Blue interior.
It seemed a lot of 996's had this combo - I haven;t seen many 997's with the Metropol interior.
