Newbie Wannabe 997/996 PPI Tx
It has only taken 48 yrs but dream car is now option - have been on side lines looking for my first Porsche last month or so - Dallas/Houston/San Antonio
PPI recommendations from search seem to be:
SA - Jones Autowerks
Dallas - Hans @ RAC
Houston - Akram Inshanally
Is this still current?
I am after 2004/2005 - recently went to Dallas for a weekend and saw alot of not so nice samples - nice car in RAC, but as daily drive, yellow would not work -
Words of Wisdom Appreciated - Have a Good New Year

You should be able to buy an '04 really cheap, but why would you. The 997 is a far better car, in all aspects, compared to the 996. You really need to do some homework before you spend your hard-earned money.

+1 for RAC in Dallas. I got my 997 PPI'ed there back in Sept. and would use them again.
I went back to Hans a few days later to get a new key made and my old Cayman that I traded in was there getting PPI'ed by the new owner.

Tim,
I am in Houston and have speed yellow as a daily driver. I have to ask why this color doesnt work? It is a flat color that only shows "dirt" when driven during light rain on filthy roads or when driven in the country at night going 70+ (bugs). I try to wash mine every other week (weekly during the summer) and the worst part is the brake dust on the wheels.
Good luck with the hunt.

Suggesting that a newb does more homework before spending hard-earned money sounds like good advice to me. The poster was also correct in suggesting the OP look for a 997. Happy New Year to all and hope that timmyr gets his P car. dave

Make sure you research all the costs of ownership ... tires, oil changes, services ... they're eye-watering expensive.

Small disappointment on this journey experienced yesterday – have been looking at 05 in SA Porsche dealership; first noticed on Ebay prior to Christmas and it did not sell; anyway, prior to new year made electronic offer subject to PPI and yesterday morning received email from the salesman I had been dealing with saying that that was fine and just let him know what is needed from them. Great, called Jones to book PPI etc & post lunch Sales Manager calls & says he cannot let car go for that price and the salesman had made a mistake. End of Story, Salesman then sends out apologetic email – it is what it is & the search continues!
