Default What's up with all the Ruby Red 997.2's for sale right now?

I'm currently looking for either a 997 C4S Cabrio (.1 or .2) or possibly a turbo and have noticed there are quite a few identically optioned 2009 Ruby Red C4S Cabrios with Sand Beige interiors and PDK. Was this a launch car or something?

Yes, this color/option package was indeed the launch profile for the 09 C4S Cab. We have enjoyed ours for ~22K miles and she is one of the cars for sale, ours at the Excellence web-site, price negotiable.

Yet the color Ruby Red was introduced for the 2008 997.1 models as a standard metallic option (~$500 up charge) and either in 2009 or 2010 it was changed to a special color and the price was considerably increased.

They were sent to the dealers to showcase the new model and typically sat on the showroom floor for people to look at and sit in. Typically well optioned cars.

Yes, and kids to spill sodas in and such. I never understood why someone would want the launch cars on the floor for the launch parties. Hundreds of people sitting in them, playing with buttons, settings, etc. Again, lot of kids too.

My Boxster was a launch car, and I picked it up the first morning the 987s went on sale. After my test drive and one other person's (I hadn't wrested the keys away yet) I got it with <50 miles on it. It's been great and had some nice options I wouldn't have otherwise known I'd want on my 997 when I ordered it.

Mine Ruby Red is not for sale. It has black interior, few options (sport PASM, chrono, sport seats, chrono) and I love it!

Yes, is a metallic color. Due to to the light, the pic shows a bit more purple than is actually there. It's more of a dark, metallic red.

There was another color popular on the 993s called Carmon Red which is similar, but is a but more plum than red. Very cool color in person.

I never cared for this color. If you want red, get Guards Red IMO. Sorry, just doesn't do it for me.
