I'd change it now if I were you and it was my car. (I changed my 08 Cayman S oil at 750 miles, 1400 miles, and had the dealer service department change it at 2000 miles at the end of "break-in".

Whether you change it now or at 10K mles do this: With a very clean drain pan catch the oil filter housing oil and filter element.

Take a look at the oil and the filter.

I'd do it now and then switch to once a year or 7.5K whatever comes first.

Normally I would agree but most of us are concerned with the IMS so we want to keep an eye on the Oil Filter. Some believe 3k miles is prudent but I'm OK with 5k.

then i would stick to 7.5-10k mile interval

those of you changing at 3k is wasting resources. the oil is barely getting any usage at 3k mi

Every 5K miles on mine. I also replaced the drain plug with a magnetic one.

I did my first at 2000 mi. and then followed a 5000 mi. change interval.

Oil is cheap.
