I'd love to see more pics also. Maybe from a bit further away?

My targa is squeak free, until it gets down around 0*C or 32*F . .then she's all squeaky for a little until the car is fully warmed up

Will try that tip next Fall

Thx

OK, after looking closely at the original picture, I figured out where the strip goes. See my pic below. I didn't have enough velcro to do the whole strip, so I did it in 3 sections, and took a photo from a little further away, which hopefully will be helpful to others.

I took the car for a spin around the block and it looks like it makes a significant difference.

One downside, however. It seems to interfere slightly with the deflector that pops up when the sunroof opens and closes. Instead of moving up (or down) smoothly, it suddenly pops up (or down) when the roof gets to a certain point in opening or closing. Maybe the velcro I used is too thick? Hoping it gets better over time as the velcro wears with use.

Anyhow, here's the pic. I circled the areas that have velcro on them so hopefully it is more visible.

Default Try door molding tape

I used the roll of sticky door weather stripping in the front of where the glass fits into the roof. When I closed the roof the weatherstripping got pushed into those areas where the spoiler was causing a rattle. Cheap and easy.

Thanks!

Yes, it is rather hard to be sure what you used and where you put it. Thanks!

Default Car is in storage

My car is in storage so I am unable to show pictures. I used approximately 1/2 " gray weatherstripping which is usually put around doors and windows and has a sticky side for adherence, I placed it under the areas where the spoiler pops up and also up front to prevent the glass from moving in that area. It has worked effectively along with the sail cote from other threads to remove rattle. It is also easy to remove if it doesn't work for you.

So the first place you mentioned sounds like it's the same place shown in the most recent picture - on the underside of the roof, so that it's above the spoiler when the roof is closed. Correct?

The second place is still not clear to me. On the leading edge of the glass roof?

And the weather strip is 1/2 an inch thick or 1/2 an inch wide? Also, is it fairly hard/solid, or is it something that is very soft and compressable? (I've seen all sorts of products sold for sealing doors and windows.)

Thanks!

I used the soft compressible variety as the space is tight and I just wanted to prevent squeaks.

I know that this is from a really long time ago; but have you guys not had any trouble with the deflecting not closing and opening properly with the extra dimension of the velcro?

Volmonad

Hope you are enjoying your p-car.

I am a fellow rennlister. I recently bought a 2007 Targa 4S. I hear popping / tapping noises from the back of the car - i think where the rear glass lid / frame etc meet.

In researching this issue online, I saw your post on rennlist where you used to hear some tapping noise. Were you able to determine the source? And if so, did you manage to fix it?

I tried all the other ideas re: mclube etc. But the issue is not in the roof area - it is coming from the rear. And definitely nothing related to engine etc.

Any ideas / pointers are greatly appreciated

Best Regards
